Description of Our Community: Our Community is located at the southernmost part of Metro Manila. Muntinlupa is an ancient term that refers to a town, which was originally known as Munting lupa. Due to the area's mountainous terrain, the term "monte" was expanded and the name Muntinlupa was derived. This city is well-known for the depth and breadth of its historical and cultural heritage. Despite the fact that the city had few historical records to back up its claims to authenticity, stories told through verbal interchange provided valuable insights into the city's past. It was not until 1917 that Muntinlupa was granted independence from Rizal. The city's economy began to flourish, and new establishments arose. The transformation of a city from what was once known as a grazing meadow for cows to a city with rich culture and history.

Project Description: The word Barangay derived from the word ‘balangay’, which are the sailboats that brought settlers of Malay to the Philippines. Each sailboat carried a large family. The master of the boat gained power as leader of each established barangay. A barangay is defined as a small divisional district forming the most local level of government. After the rectification of the 1986 Constitution, Muntinlupa was divided into two districts, the first includes four barangays, and the second includes the other five. In line with the historical transformation and urbanization of our community, our project aims to inform readers about the different Barangays in Muntinlupa. Each Barangay contains distinctive traits that differentiates themselves from each other. With nine Barangays, Muntinlupa comprises enough elements to showcase the rich culture the Emerald City has developed throughout the years. With our project titled as “Buhay Muntinlupa”, or in English, “Life in Muntinlupa”, we aim to showcase the diversity, history, and culture of our community through highlighting what each barangay has to offer.
