Description of Our Community: “First Hú-siânn, second Lo?k-káng, third Báng-kah” is an old saying that depicts the sequence of economic development and prosperity of old towns in Taiwan. Among the top three, Lukang is the second developed harbor town. Due to the gradually silted harbor, Lukang has long been unable to traffic people or goods by waterways, resulting in the political and economic shift northward and therefore leaving herself low-key for over a century. Fortunately, with abundant cultural assets left by ancestry and the renaissance of local cultures, the authorities concerned endeavor to revive Lukang by fascinating tourists with a variety of delicious food, antique buildings, religious events, and special customs and traditions there.

Project Description: Hello, we are 6th graders from Ludong Elementary School who dedicate ourselves to webpage design for investigating the disappearing cultural industry that reuses the scented Taiwan Cypress to make festive products or kids’ toys. From the investigation, we have discovered that in old times, local residents got along well with the environment; nevertheless the use of plastic toys is widespread nowadays. By promoting the aforesaid cultural industry, people are getting more concerned about the reuse of the recycled second-handed materials and its underlying cultural values.
