Description of Our Community: Zhongshan District is located in the north of Taipei center, is the earlier development of Taipei City. The Construction of Zhongshan District was started during the Japanese occupation period. At the moment, historical buildings such as parks, monasteries, churches, shrines, hostels, civilian quarters, consulates and school buildings are still visible and most have been designated as historic sites. Because of the passage of Chokushi Kaido, the most important traffic route during the Japanese occupation, Zhongshan District is the most prosperous area in the city of Taipei during the Japanese occupation. Even more valuable is the fact that it shows the diversity and mobility of urban functions. Though in this such a small area, cultural experience and historical patrimony has been covered in its ordinary lanes and streets. The ZhongShan district is undoubtedly the most exotic and humanistic region in Taipei city.

Project Description: Our research centers on the monuments in Zhongshan District and explores its historical value and the spirit of cultural convergence behind it. Through field visits, we have investigated the past and present of historic monuments and have run into the new era. While exploring new possibilities, we also hope that through such investigations and studies, we will arouse people's memory of monuments and attach importance to its preservation. We use the culture behind the monuments as the cornerstone and think more about the foreseeable future.
