Description of Our Community: Neimen district of Kaohsiung city, a mountainous township with not many population but plays an important role in Taiwan traditional folk arts, due to " Zhi-Jhu Temple" , a flourishing religious center of Nei-men. Every year during the birthday of The perfect compassion, Avalokiteshvara (Guanyin) Bodhisattva (a great being who aspires to help all sentient beings be free of suffering before entering the bliss of Buddhahood) (http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/history/guanyin.htm), local Parade Formations will be enthusiastic to participate in Taiwanese cultural & recreational activity.

The Dapu "Tiao gu zhen"(drum-dance-array) of Neimen is composed of local citizens, including different ages and genders. Performers use their leisure time or off-work hours to practice in the square of neighborhood temple, not only participate in Nei-men, they are usually invited to act in many other places.

Project Description: The cultural heritage of drum dancing were passing down the values to younger members only with oral expression . Nowadays what better way than a digital reservation? Frankly speaking, people are the most essential part of the drum dancing, but the loss of the young generations lead to a difficult circumstance of severe shortage of group members. At least 9 group members should attend in one performance, if the show will continue the whole day long, 10 to 15 members would be necessary to take turns performing. Recently, the Dapu drum dancing group is facing the dilemma of shortage of manpower, which causes the halt of performance, even under such circumstance, they do not give up trying to recruit members to continue the tradition skills.

Owing to show respect and thank to two couches coming from the Dapu drum dancing group for the long tern teaching and instructing, teachers and students of Jing-Yi elementary school hope to make effort for the preserve of local history by this research on this website.
