Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Jinshan is located in the northern coast of Taiwan. There are a lot of hot springs here. The famous attractions include Old Street, Hot Spring, Mysterious Coast, the Twin Candlestick Islets, etc. On Old Street, Guang An Temple and Cihu Temple are two of the iconic buildings. Jinshan, full of history of human interaction, is an important tourist attraction in the northern coast of Taiwan.

2. Summary of Our Project

The main purpose of this website is to introduce the famous attraction in northern Taiwan: 'Jinshan Old Street'. Tourists can check out the website before and during their visit. Hopefully, they can have a better understanding of the history of Jinshan Old Street.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The biggest problem we needed to overcome was team communication. Articles, videos, photos, references, ,, require a lot of time and effort due to the sheer volume of things to deal with. Therefore, we spend a lot of time communicating and assigning tasks.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Students leave the classroom to explore the outdoors, which enriches the life experience.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This project combines courses such as image processing, video editing, Webpage production, etc. In this process, students learn to work as a team. They brainstorm for their topic. They go on field trips and interview people. They take photos, videos, audio recordings, and edit them. Finally, they present what they have learned in these activities perfectly on their webpages. Their work once again proves the importance of learning by doing. The students apply what they have learned in class and practice it by doing this project.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

During the event, we used 10 computers, mobile phones, Line communication software, library, and oral interviews. These tools helped us complete team tasks efficiently. Especially 'Line' software, its function is really good to use.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Students always go to the stores in person. Some shop owners said they can take pictures, videos and interviews, but some said 'no'. Fortunately, most of the shop owners said 'OK'.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through this program, students gain a better understanding of their living environment. Through interviews and information inquiries, they became familiar with the operation of the store and learned about the history of nearby monuments. So the local shop got to know the students and had some interactions. Through this program, students gain a better understanding of their living environment. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We are very grateful to the local helpers. Most of them are local store members, and many of them are the parents or relatives and friends of the students. With their assistance, we obtained first-hand information. Thanks again for their help.
