Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our chosen community is Huikuang Guide Dog Foundation Taiwan in Xinzhuang District. The major significance for this foundation is to teach dogs into guide dogs that may lead blind people through the world. They included lots of different education systems and administrated the school for dogs such as Labrador, Golden labradors, and Golden retriever. After the dogs passed the test, they become a dog that works and helped the society to grow. In conclusion, Huikuang Guide Dog Foundation Taiwan stands a relevant role in Taiwan's civilization because of how it supports blind people.

2. Summary of Our Project

In terms of having increased amount of blind people, then the significance of the Huikuang Guide Dog Foundation Taiwan stands more. Therefore, we wanted to interview and acknowledge more on how they train guide dogs. Furthermore, we will interview more on what they met in their foundation, and their thoughts on this foundation based on some circumstances. As a result, we will take a step into the world of interactions between guide dogs and blind people, in order to sort out how the community is making a positive effect through the civilization.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

During this project, we have to interview the Huikuang Guide Dog Centre, however the epidemic made us hard to interview them. By communicating and negotiating with the people in Huikuang Guide Dog Centre, we overcame this problem and decided to still interview them face by face.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through processing this project, we can spread the idea and the correct way to associate with guide dogs and indirectly make spread the positive benefits of guide dogs the the public. Therefore, a more sturdy guide dog community may be established and last.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This project fit into our school's coursework because we are learning how to become a responsible citizen, therefore by interviewing the Huikuang Guide Dog Centre in our community we can fulfill the idea of a responsible citizen. As a result, the students and teachers in our school and those people who finished our questionnaires may have better understanding of guide dogs in Taiwan.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

1. Computers 2. Camera 3. iMovie for editing the video

These tools is our important materials while we're doing the competition. Computers help us make our website, camera helps us on recording the interview. iMovie helps us edit our interview video and add subtitles, which is edited on computers.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In two different perspectives, we acted as ambassadors and spoke for our community. As an ambassador in person, we interviewed the Huikuang Guide Dog Centre and created questionnaires to make the public learn more about guide dogs. In addition, by interviewing them, the video we have taken will also be public online and in the website to make other people learn more about guide dogs in Taiwan.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Throughout the whole process of this project, it has strengthened the relationship between our school and our local community. Since this interview may made us spread more positive knowledge about guide dogs, people our community learned new things about guide dog and stand in on other perspectives to judge how a guide dog may help. Through viewing our website, people can know more about guide dogs, and learn how they can treat them in the public.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our project involved the people in Huikuang Guide Dog Centre since we have to interview them. Here's a big thank you to Huikuang Guide Dog Centre that accepted our interview!
