Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Nandian is located at the southernmost of Hemei Township in Changhua County. Its name is taken from the fact it is in the south of Daxiadian. At first it was called “Xiadianwei,” that is “lower dianwei” now. The population is 2629 in the 627 households of 16 neighborhoods. Nandian Village has 60 year history since our ancestors began to develop. An early name for Hemei was Khah-lí-sian (???), taken from the aboriginal Babuza language. It means a junction between hot and cold, mild climate and beautiful environment. There are four Tudigong religion center inside Nandian community. On Lunar calendar August 14 every year, they held regular Tudigong pilgrimage activities. It is a big event in the community. It also cultivates a special “Tudigong culture” within the community.
