4. Problems We Had To Overcome

There were a number of problems that our team had to overcome. The first and the foremost problem was understanding among the group members. It took us time to coordinate with each other and communicate fully. The next problem was the inadequate access to computers and internet. Very often the computers weren't free as the teachers of the school had to work.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Cyber Fair has given the students and the school a wonderful opportunity to participate in an international competition. Most of all, it has given the experience of working and participating at the global level.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our project addresses high content standards with complete and brief information about the entire project. The pictures used and displayed are completely adequate and precise. The project fits well into the school and state guidelines as we are promoting the Festivals Of India by following all the rules and regulations of school. We learnt various new skills like website designing, new ways of project promotion and also HTML coding. The main group concepts practiced by us were leadership and ways of adjusting with the team members. Yes, using Internet has been a more effective method than traditional methods as it gave a variety of options to explore and discover about whatever aspect we want to.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

There were a number of tools and technologies that we used for completing our project. Firstly, we used the computers available in our school. There are approx. 20 computers in our school out of which two computers were given to us to save all our documents and project related work. Except for that, we were allowed to work on 3 to 4 computers at a time in the school. Our team members also used mobile phones to communicate to each other. We also made a Facebook group chat named ‘Cyber Fair' in which we could send messages that were required for everyone to read. All important information regarding how the project has to go about were put as a message within the group so that everyone gets information on time as Facebook is a social networking site that is used mostly by everyone regularly. Then we used Digital Cameras and Video Cameras for taking the required pictures of team members and videos of all events related to the project. These tools helped us so much as we were solely dependent on them for beginning and ending the project.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We acted as ambassadors and spokespersons for our Cyber Fair project online by creating our website and the project related page on social networking sites and reaching out to the people online by creating posts and further awareness among them all about The Indian Festivals. We acted as ambassadors and spokespersons in person by presenting our project through several presentations in our school, creating and conducting surveys within different age groups and getting into group discussions with students and teachers of our school about our chosen Cyber Fair topic and theme.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The project has already started to impact our Indian Community where our small attempt to make people aware of the Indian Festivals. Our project will certainly make a difference in creating awareness among people abroad. This has helped many people who wanted to know more about our variety of festivals we have in India.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our project is about the Festivals of India so it definitely involves active participation of different age groups as helpers who guided us with new ideas and volunteers who volunteered to review our project. Also we conducted short surveys of varied age groups who gave us their opinions on our project. They were a great help to us as well. We promoted our project in-person by visiting places and interacting with the local people of Delhi. We also met many tourists from France and Sweden and we interacted with them as well. It was a nice experience.
