Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

It used to be 'Je Yuan¨ Area, Sugar mill was established at the end of Qing dynasty. Because it is symmetrical to Bao Bu, located at its south, so it's called Xia Bu. Xia Bu village locate at North Chung-Hua City. The North area of ChungHua city includes Xin Xing village, Yang Ming village, Xing Yi village, Wan An village, Zhong Zheng village, Guang Hua village, Xia Bu village, Min Sheng village, Gua Shan village, Xia Bei village, Guang Fu village, Long Shan village, Wenhua village, Xing Hua village and Yong Fu village. Xia Bu village is bound between Jinma Road and Jia Nan village at north, bound with Jiango North Road and Ayi village at east, rail road intersection and Mingshen village at south, bound with Yong An stress and XinHua village at west. It has 28 neighborhoods and 1977 households.

2. Summary of Our Project

July 2018, we team up as A Bu team because of Cyberfair competition, from that time, we had one goal to work together. Our team member has their own ability and talent: being clam and careful,Pei Hong&Zi Qi Being good at writing Chien Chu&Mao Chen; love to amuse, but being passionate at service, Tung Lin&Jia Jin; being logical and clearly organized Wei Ting&Hsin Yu; being cheerful Ying Yun&Li Xuan. We are all from different classes. During the making of cyberfair, we learn to encourage each other and work hard as a team. From the process of research, after deeply understanding Xia Bu community, we found there are two key men in the community. One is  A-Bu village chief Liu Sir and citizen representative Yen Sir, they love this community that they live since they were young and little and  are willing to devote their efforts to this community. They lead a volunteer team to keep the environment clean. To enhance the  coherence  and emotion among villagers, they hold many activities and encourage citizens to participate at and get connected. They  use their  passion to encourage and attract more young volunteer to devote themselves to the work of volunteer team. This is   also match  to our spirit of making cyberfair and is what we should learn. During research, we found the community development association has well established organization, everyone is doing well their task and devoted to offer for the community. Once Chairman or CEO announce the job, each team will achieve it. We therefore introduce  Xia  Bu community to every class of school, hoping that everyone know Xia Bu well and do not feel strange any more. The class is similar to a small community, with a strong coherence, no distinction between you and me, the spirit of servicing the public, work as a team to bring more honor to the class.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

Our school has exclusive computer classroom, providing class usage and thematic topic project usage. Each computer can go(work) on line. It becomes easier for us to discuss at school, search and print document. Therefore, during school discussion, we will use school internet, at least once a week to discuss the questions of interview and collect information and finish the website page. At home, we use internet to fulfill the progress of our task and transfer document to teacher and student by e mail. A lot of works are complete by the help of teacher and student help each other by communication software.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Question, Time: Knowing that we are participating the competition of Cyberfair, within a very short time, we are not only having to discuss the research topic and content, writing report, and we also need to interview senior officer and doing questionnaire in the community and then arrange the data and use the data as website page. Introducing Xia Bu village to everyone, to accomplish many task in the short time, it is really making people nervous. We hope our efforts will let all people see the difference. Solution: Do how many things according to how many time you have, therefore we work the research topics and research structure at the very beginning and estimate the task and time table. In addition, teacher use lunch break every Monday to discuss the task and progress of a week. For ourselves, besides a regular meeting once a week during lunch break, we also use morning-self-study period and lunch break to discuss and practice interview. Our teacher make a special website page to update information. We also ask question through message board of website page. Teacher will reply immediately when they see our question. So, we step by step complete each task.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We found that the Community Development is started from everyone in this community. From local representative activity to an activity that everyone can participate at step by step. However, the greatest part of it is people coherence and community spirit behind it. This is because community has a place that people can gather and further provides recreational activities, various skill practice seminars and multi-functional service to its citizens. This enhances the sense of identity of citizen toward their community and re-establish humanities and cultures environment and enhance citizens’s coherence in the community.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

As published by Ministry of Education, the main purpose of Grade 1-9 Curriculum outline lies in “cultivating all-round citizens who have the humanism sentiments and thoughts, integration ability, democratic accomplishment and local and international awareness and can learn perpetually”, and emphasizes that the curriculum should center on life, respect personality development and cultivate active exploration and reflection ability. It is hoped that students can further promote and actively care for society, environment and nature, understand and identify with local culture deeply and respect and appreciate other cultures.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Although come us busy for a few months because of and, every day in addition to wanting to cope with the school heavy lessons, also want Sacrifice lunch break or sleep time in evening, recording daily record or dozen insight, also need to learn new computer processing programs, manufactures Web page, although is very tired, heart in but have very full result and sense of achievement. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Our lessons has been very heavy at ordinary tiems, then extrude time to record every work daily record and write to word by word make or insight, in fact Is very difficult, therefore usually literally cope with for completing in the term, cause the impassability of phrases follow or leak the word situation, on the contrary want much Do several work, implicate a set of member to also prolong more time, lose more than gain. 3.
