Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Village' which means 'Great Anxi'. We are students of Taipei Municipal Daan Vocational High School in Daan District of Taipei City. Daan District is the most populous administrative district in Taipei City. Among them, there are many famous schools, and our Taipei Municipal Daan Vocational High School is one of the famous schools in this area. Daan District also has the Daan Forest Park, which is a rare large-scale green area in Taipei City. Daan Forest Park is also considered to be the lung of our city, which brought a literary atmosphere and fresh air.

2. Summary of Our Project

The village of dependency is a place rich of culturally meaning, and in this unique culture, 44 South Village located in Xinyi District, Taipei is the first military village in Taiwan. In order to explore this historic area, we set up a “historical research team” specializing in the history of 44 South Village. From the past, the reasons for the beginning of the narrative to the present preservation and continuity, one by one to reunite, and become a thematic website.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

(1)Because all of our members are from second grade in senior high, the available time that everyone has are different which make the discussion face to face hard.

solution: Using social media likes Line to have the online meeting and save the data on Google Drive.

(2)The process of the translation is slow because the translation were also done by the members from our group, and many drafts has to be confirmed.

solution: reducing the job from who are responsible for translation, let them focus on the translation duty.

(3)For the first time to be international CyberFair, we’re not familiar with the rules. For example, add CyberFair logo to the website was needed.

solution: read the rules and requirements of the competition carefully before submitting, and ask the team members with high level of English to confirm.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Understand our history, understand our life.

Opportunity favors the prepared mind. I believe we will ready.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

(1) What new skills did you learn?

1.We learned how to organize teams and distribute works. According to the part that each member of the team are good at, we allocate work and plan how the entire plan should be carried out. Arrange the schedule of the entire plan, and implement the plan according to it.

2. We also learned how to use online resources effectively. Use LINE to communicate and use Google Cloud Storage to store documents, organize web page layouts, and because Google Docs supports multi-person online editing, it greatly increases the efficiency of team work.

(2) Has using the Internet for teaching and learning been more effective than traditional methods? If so, explain?

Using online learning is indeed more effective than traditional methods. When we encounter a problem, we can use the Internet to find the solutions, which are usually more than one. There is a lot of information on the Internet as well. When facing the problems, you can also find relevant information about it. This is very helpful and effective for learning.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

For word processing, we used the notebooks which provided by our school to inquiries, compile the manuscripts, and use the school library to complete some of the content. The drafts of the file are recorded in Google documents for storage and co-editing. The structure of the whole project is drawn by using draw.io. During the interview, we used a notebooks to play a verbatim script and recorded it with a voice recorder. We then used the camera to have the phote together. In the menufauring of the webpage, we first use Illustrator to design the appearance. After the design is finished, we use Brackets to write the webpage. Using it, we can directly see our changed results when we compose web pages. This makes it easier for us to design web pages.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The webpage was created to disseminate informations. Through interviews and reading of historical data, we understood the current situation of the 44 South Village and the future hoped for. We hope we can let more people know the story of the 4th South Village through our website . Good stories should be well preserved for future generations to know.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Through this project, we let schoolmates and teachers have the chance to glance by the information connecting and transmission. We believed this project could make everyone who lives in XinYi District have the recognition about the history and the surrounding changing of 44 South Village. And also deeply understanding the land we stood on.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

With great appreciation for teacher to supervise us in the processing of the project, we couldn’t eve finish the project with it. Also thanks to the boro president of Jing Xing Vil. and the teacher who had lived in 44 South Village before for providing information by the meeting. None of the interview or the visiting personally could be ignored for the processing of the website this time.
