Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Our school is located in Xilaichang town, Pujiang county, Chengdu city, Sichuan province. From Xinnanmen bus station of Chengdu, taking the bus through Chengdu to Yaan highway, about 40 minutes, get off at the exit of Shouan , you can reach about 10 km to the west. The school is located between the large and small mountains, adjacent to Linxi River, and it is about 15 km to Pujiang county. The school distance is only 10 km from Chengdu-Xinjin-Pujiang fast channel. Under construction in Chengdu - Pujiang intercity railway, will be put into operation in 2016, Xilai town has a station.

2. Summary of Our Project

Pujiang build in AD 554, where is a holy land of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. Pujiang County has a long history, outstanding people and rich in resources. Local people live in the land of plenty. Our generation is very lucky and happy. But today in China, few people seem to notice that one group people sacrificed their precious life for our today's peaceful and happy life. Martyrs are no more with us, we have to read them by their graves, inscriptions and their remains. The meaning of life is to pay and give. The heightened sense of life is about to have done all you could for the people, even lives. Li Jiayu, Li Lei, and some people who we know or not, their heroic deeds shock us. The martyrs are immortal, heroic spirit lives forever!

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:1

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

School sets up a broadband LAN. In ordinary times, we had little chance to use computer because computer classroom is occupied by lessons. Students who took part in webpage-making competition are boarding students, we only went online in computer classroom at noon, and others from relatively well-off families went back home on weekend to use computer.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

First: the time is limited. The students get up at 7:00 every day, and get out of class at 9:00 in the evening, teacher Liu not only teaches Chinese to the two classes students from Grade 7, but also does a master, so the students only take a little time to do the work at noon, or go home to do a bit at the weekend, to accumulate up athe work little by little. Second: Chengdu battle memorial and martyr cemetery are less than 2 kilometers from our school to where we go ordinarily with little buddy, never did understand. When teacher Liu asked us “Have you visited the Chengdu battle memorial?”“Have you been the martyr cemetery?”We rushed to reply:“Yes, we have, we have been there when we were in grade 4. Li Lei’s grave is in cemetery.” “Can you say something about Chendu Battle?”Teacher Liu continued. We all looked, and said nothing. Teacher Liu planed to take us to visit Chengdu Battle memorial on weekend. Unfortunately, it rains every weekend in recent week. The mid-term exam is coming; we only have a bit of materials checked on internet. We are afraid that we can’t make webpage without first-hand information. The skies finally cleared, we made a trip.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We deeply mourn for and pay high tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the war. it's like a cleansing spirit, and encourages us to study and work harder. We inherit the older generation's will, remain faithful to the ideals of the party, and keep passion in career, life and people. We study hard, do our homework, to make constructive efforts fot the early realization of the Chinese dream.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Researching study activity, a must for students, leads students to oncern the aspects of society, environment, technology and life. By our visits, we found that Chengdu is not a peaceful liberation, it is liberated by more than 20 thousand people, and it is exchanged with more than 1000 martyrs’ lives. The heroes in Pujiang has Li jiayu,a anti-Japanese famous general, and Li Lei, a peacekeeper and … They are no longer with us, we understand them only by their epitaphs and remains. The meaning of life is to pay and give, to sacrifice for people. Remembering the martyrs is an inner respect and a spiritual baptism. In order to maintain national dignity and strive for national independence and liberation, they gave their precious lives. In the peaceful age, we should always remember them and take him as a driving force to inspire us to learn.
