Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

'Tainan is a place for people to dream, work, love, get married, and spend leisure time.' - Ye Shitao. Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan. With its time-honor 300-year history, the city is well woven into the fabric of rich culture and interesting anecdotes. Details hidden inside the corners of streets, they yield the footprints left behind by ancestors as well as those precious, little stories being passed down generation by generation. A Temple in 3 Steps And A God within 5 Strides Owingto unique geographic backgrounds, Tainan was the financial hub of Taiwan in earlier times, harboring many cargo ships. Ever since being colonized by the Dutch, it set up a base for Tainan’s multicultural mix and then impacted the religions and customs from crowds of diversity here.Rituals And Prayers for Well-Being Is Characteristic of Local Customs In Tainan Tainan, “the Cultural Capital”, is pretty full of temples and ceremonies of variety and excitement. Old Restaurants of Gourmet Snacking Used to Be Like Mobil Museums of Delicacies Gourmet snacking in Tainan is originated from where people crowdedly got together, like streets around temples, night markets, and so on. In earlier days, those foods were sold by peddlers or with stalls on streets while nowadays most of them are transformed into major historical restaurants famous for gourmet snacking. Do not hesitate to come taste those Iconic gourmet snacking and to go on a journey rich of culture, culinary, and history of Tainan.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our School (Jhongyi Elementary School) is in the West Central Dist of Tainan,and the West Central Dist of Tainan is the is the cultural place of traditional skills.There are three major shopping districts, four major cultural parks and 63 historic sites and historical buildings in Tainan.All kinds of folk activities, traditional crafts, old houses, cultural and other cultural performances are booming. Tainan is the earliest birthplace of embroidery in Taiwan, and embroidery is one of the most distinctive traditional crafts in Tainan. Mr. Lin Yu- Chian had founded the city with glorious Embroidery, with a high degree of popularity in Taiwan's traditional process.He say:?Three-dimensional embroidery using embroidered lines sketched body, so that the three-dimensional structure of a complete show, more complex than the plane embroidery to create a sense of three-dimensional and sense of symmetry is the shape of 'shape' the most difficult part; and Taiwan embroidery more colorful known at home and abroad!? The team members students have computers at home, all available online. As a result, students can also use their home computers to search for information in addition to online search during their school days.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We had a lot of problems when we conducted this special study, because the members span four grades to six grades, and the noon time in school can be regarded as the common time. Although there are several members of the student information group, Webpage, our ability is still not enough. Even if our research target Teacher Lin Yu-Chain is a very easy-going traditional artist, we still have to ask the teacher to give us pointers on the dialogue so that we will not be involved in the interview process Speaking inappropriate words.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

In recent years, even more private teaching, deeply loved by the students, Lin Yu-Chian teacher felt that the cultural process must continue, in order to be endless! 6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Cyberfair encourages students at all levels to explore local cultures and communities through the thematic study and teamwork and express what they have learned via the internet. This time we take embroidery master Lin Yu-chian as our research object. We hope that through the collection and production of thematic materials, and cultivate the life skill ability of students, such as drawing out plans, collecting information, interviewing and web page making skills, etc.

A. language Learning: Through writing experiences and arranging the key points of the interview make our articles greatly increase their language ability to express themselves. Through sharing the brief report, we can learn to express and share the ability. In addition, English writing is taught to make our English ability more solid.

B. Arts and Humanities: When we learn the knowledge and application of embroidery skills during the course of embroidery experience, can enhance our artistic ability and accomplishment such as feeling, imagination and creativity.

C. Integrative activities: We learn how to plan, organize and practice information collection, problem discussion, actual visits and practical application of resources, and realize the spirit of respect, care and teamwork and laying the foundation for life-long learning ability. D. Science and Technology: During the study, we applied a wealth of information-based knowledge and kept a detailed record through mobile phones, digital cameras, computers, DV, and voice recorder to conduct research digital and learn how to make web pages. From this experience, we have made great improvement in the ability to use information technology.

E. Social Science:We understand a lot of traditional embroidery method and the beauty of embroidery artwork . This also allows us to have more knowledge of embroidery culture and understand the future of embroidery culture.Mr. Lin wants people to see the beauty of Taiwan's embroidery.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The network of our school is a large Tainan optical fiber network technology, the bandwidth of 100M connection environment. Computer classrooms have 40 computers are available online, other devices have scanners for student scanning information, and laser printers for printing. Classrooms, each class has a computer with Internet access, allowing students to use, and the computer classroom is also available to each team a laptop. In terms of data storage and access, a classroom in the NAS classroom of the computer classroom allows students to temporarily save a large amount of information and set up an ubuntu server for each student to do webpage exercises, and also serve as a web space for students to exchange information. Ten students in the Wonder Group have computers at home, all available online. As a result, students can also use their home computers to search for information in addition to online search during their school days.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In 2018 at the school's rally, the team members introduced the Grandmaster of embroidery in Tainan, Mr. Lin Yu-Chian to teachers and students ,and his embroidery artwork by using both English and Chinese presentations. After the conference, we will upload the achievements of report to youtube. In the process of interviewing Mr. Lin in 2017, Yu Yujin's reporter wrote the interview process of the Wonder Group in a written report. Therefore, our interview process is published in the print newspaper, but also boarded the local news station. 3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We will have a deeper understanding of Master Lin’s work and creative concepts and will lead everyone to a true understanding of the embroidery process. Students recommend 'The Grandmaster of embroidery in Tainan, Mr. Lin Yu-Chian ' and his embroidery skills to everyone in our school.

We also use the class time to do a briefing for classmates.In addition to introducing the master of traditional crafts, but also conveyed his will ~ group members personally embroidery experience activities.After the event, we compile all the results into a well-illustrated website, which the space provided by the Expo Nets, but also added a link in the school's website, so that all over the world through the Internet to better understand ' The Grandmaster of embroidery in Tainan, Mr. Lin Yu-Chian ' .

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In the course of this special study, we want to thank Professor Mr. Lin Yu-Chian?Master Huang and Master Shih Tzu for their glorious embroidery. Althoughwe did not really know him from the beginning, he gave us generously permission to let usconduct research and reports, and provided us with a great deal of information to give us warm hospitality. Give us a warm welcome on our visit. We would also like to thank all those who have helped us and thank you for your special personal time to accept us interview questions, provide relevant information to make our research successfully completed.We are full of thanks in this three-month-long learning process ...... Thank you for being with us, learning and growing up.

We are also particularly grateful to the mother of Chenglin Chiang. She helped us in this event an important task, after we experience the courses embroidered cloth, tailor into a beautiful cell phone pocket, each of our team members. So have their own custom embroidery phone bag ~ We all thank you again to Chenglin Chiang’s mother!

We are also very grateful to the school's security guards, because we do this project often use the holiday time to school activities, he help us open the door closed.The President of our school often come to care about us, and Director Chan assisted in arranging the time for the meeting to be held at so that we could brief the whole school.We also thanked the teacher, Mrs. Huang, for arrangingthe time for us to give presentations in the class and gave us many suggestions and concerns in the learning process. 5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Our research team through this special study found that there are many masters around our lives. In the process, we are full of admiration for Mr. Lin Yu-Chian. After the study, there is a deeper understanding of embroidery, personally In the process of experiencing embroidery, we also know more about the wisdom and customs of life of many of our predecessors. In particular, people's devotion to religion and gods is manifested in all the artifacts, so that we have also taken on brand new weaving and embroidery. The modesty of masters and the embroidery work are done through a division of labor and workmanship ...... All of which allow us to learn things we have never noticed before and to refresh our perspectives on future studies. In fact, in addition to the study of external skills, we feel more optimistic and perseverance in our work. We are greatly impressed by the observation of things around us. We are greatly impressed with the perseverance of our art. A long time ago, but also continued to progress, we get a kind of inspiration: 'To maintain the patience and interest in learning, is absolutely the only way to success.' Normally we all sit in class and inevitably flow into ' talk about stratagems on paper -- empty talk.' From the very beginning, we did not care about the things around us and the arts, and we have always felt that the mother and aunt are doing.This study really gives us greatly to widen one's horizon. With a deep understanding of the grandmaster of embroidery Mr. Lin Yu-Chian and embroidery skills, we are somewhat respectful of the traditional art workers.
