Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

There are many public channels in Taiwan. However, no one want to understand deeply how they work. Therefore, we explain how they work to the public. We believe that making the public understand more about Public Channel can also make them understanding more about our home, Taiwan.

2. Summary of Our Project

Media in Taiwan always reports unimportant news. The reason they report these is most people like them and media need to increase the rating. Therefore, we made the questionnaire to understand how the public think about Taiwan media and we also interviewed the person in charge of Public Channel. In addition we compared the public channels of Taiwan with other countries' public channels.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:not sure

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We met some problems in this project. First of all, difficult part is interviewing. We had tried 3 or 4 times to reserve her, but the manager of Public Channel was too busy to be interviewed. Second, our time cannot meet with hers. Fortunately, we made it. And other part is that we did have so little time that we completed it hardly.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

During this activity, we have learned much from this time . For example, how to coordination with partner is a very important part . It is impossible to finish this project by one person. And why we want to participate this activity, it is because we want to challenge ourselves. All of us did not participate the activity like this. Therefore, we want to try by this valuable.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This competition let us know how to use computer more properly. We have learned about how to use Adobe Dreamweaver and PhotoImpact. Moreover, we learned the skill of interview and how a television station works. What's more, our project makes our school students have more interests in Taiwan media. Because of that, it also let students have interest in news.As the result, students can know more about Taiwan. Our interview also makes media think themselves. We think that the internet for teaching is more effective than traditional methods. For instance, Geography teaching needs map and digital map can let students more understanding than paper map.
