Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

There is an old saying in Taiwan “1st Fu, 2nd Lu, 3rd Meng-Jia”. The 2nd Lu means Lu-Kang, which was one of most important town of culture in Taiwan history. History researchers called the 4th period of the Taiwan Culture “Lu-Kang Period”, which was from 1684 to 1842. The Penmanship Association Of Chong Jin was established in the little old town, Lu Kang, which we could meet the cultural elements every where in the cornors in the old streets. Let's appreciate and enjoy the grace and beauty of the art of penmanship.

2. Summary of Our Project

Calligraphy is an unique art. It has unique tools and ways of writing. They mean a writer’s character, personality and humanism quality. Calligraphers in every epoch would add newer aesthetic ideas into this art. This is one of the most philosophical ideas in figurative arts. Lukang, as a literary place, is famous for its poetry, painting, calligraphy and artworks. The tradition has been passed down since Qing dynasty. In 1980, a Lukang’s famous calligraphers ??? thought this art was fadding away and had only few successors and then founded the Chong Jin Calligraphy club. He also formally registered Penmanship Association Of Chong Jin to regain ancient quaint writing styles. He devoted himself to combine calligraphy’s learning and studying into life.

There is one computer classroom in our school. There are 40 PCs for students ,30 PCs and 18 NB for teachers. In addition , there are three digital boards for teaching purposes which can also share web material among school teachers. The web lines of our school can be devided into China fibre-optica web and Taiwan Schoolar web. The host machines are two Linux servers and some other servers for other purposes. In our team, all of the members can interact and share material with the others and the teachers by means of the group of facebook even during the summer ane the winter vacation.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

A.Not be familiar with the topic: First, The Penmanship Association of Chong Jin is strange to us. After reading the magazines about The Penmanship Association of Chong Jin, we understand the origin of it. Though several interviews with Master Nian and school teachers, I am familiar with the study. B.Time Arrangement: Because we need to use the leisure time after school and after class. Therefore, time arrangement was very important for all the members of the team. Time is money. C.Slow Speed of Typing : Since that all of the study procedures had to be record by means of the computer, it was a tough task that this is our first time to conduct the mission by typing all the way. When using the keyboard, there was a big problem that we could use one finger at one time. I took lots of time to type a whole paper. D. Get to the Points: Because our experience of interview was not enough, the teachers didn’t know how to record all the processes of interview. By this way, all the members wouldn’t have enough time to record the content of the interview to Master Nian. Therefore, there were some adjustments: 1. Prepare voice record and camera recorder to record. 2. Take the notes first and then write down the details by camera recorder.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We all felt very excited when the teacher told us that if we would join this plan and the contest. However, as soon as we joint the contest, shall we know that we should make more progress in the IT skills in order to finish the task in time. Thanks the master, Mr.Nian Wen Yi,, and the directing teachers at school, we solved most of the problems effectively.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We can also experience the essence of the beautiful aspects of the culture in the basic units of the school. 3)Teamwork,Skills of making rubbings of inscriptions, interview skills, ability of collecting the material, write papers, IT Skills. 4,5)The new concepts we understood are as following: Learn much more about the skills of IT(Information Technology) is important for us to learn nowadays.To learn is to ask. No pains, no gains. 6)The research project was closely combined with the basic unit curriculums of school.7)This makes the calligraphy education can not be implemented, as the heritage of calligraphy this precious cultural heritage of the worries, it is necessary to educate the relevant units and the importance of the focus of attention, so that calligraphy education can continue to shine fever! That is, every student of our school could be the little tour guide and introduce the history and the culture easily.8) In a highly developing era of modern IT, all of the students, teachers, schools and parents can communicate with each other by using internet, and breaks through the limit of time and space to share all the resources to each other.

In fact, they were also our team mates. Without them, we could not even finish the task. They saved much time and really did us a great favor during the contest. Besides, we also wanted to thank all the directing teacher of our team for they taught us how to use all these IT equipment to save time and did a very good job and made so many website in the end.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Ask the school director to send a letter to the Chongjin Calligraphy Society, and explain the students to investigate and study the Institute, and personally visit the teacher and related members. With the help of Chongjin members, we have learned the development of the technology and wire binding. But also under the leadership of the teacher Zhou in-depth study of the small country opened a small Forest of Stone Tablets and Lok Hong Kong calligraphy road. We also thanked the card and the certificate of thanks for the help and guidance of the Society.

People from all over the world can learn more about the personal calligraphy style, the creative process and the artistic and humanistic feelings of the Lugang area by understanding the authored language and the interview.

I have met many people, such as: sticky teacher, president, teacher Zhou Chunman there are many members of Chong Jin, we did not know them before, but they first met with the first time. When we are very warm, so I am very touched, but also want to do this topic study better, so that everyone to understand the community, and appreciate the beauty of calligraphy.

When we study the Chongjin Calligraphy Society, we have organized some activities and received some media coverage. Mandarin Daily reported that the activities of the monument, wire binding book and spring couple sale. Changhua News also reported that the Springhard sale and so have a good evaluation.
