Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

The national famous historical and cultural town of Pingle town is18 kilometers away from southwest of Qionglai city, Sichuan Province, where is the largest towns in Qionglai city, the town covers an area of 70 square kilometers, the town area is 1.28 square kilometers, Pingle Ancient Town is the national AAAA tourist area. Its history can be traced back to ancient times, in the early period of the Han Emperor (150 BC), it had formed a town, and it has been two thousand years of history. The ancient town is stacked with mountains and lush bamboo trees, Baimo River from west to north through the town, the four seasons are as beautiful as a painting. The two sides of vintage towering in the empty Chambers, many banyan trees with thousand years look like cloud. The old banyan trees, Baimo river, stilts along the river, paved streets with stone, for thousands of years to cultivate a town of idyllic landscape feelings, conserve natural, fresh local culture of ancient town. The environment of Water Street is beautiful, attracting many tourists, promote local economic development prosperity. It is the central link of the town, through the visitor center of large parking lot from the east, next to Yingbin Avenue from south, along the end of the street is the stone bridge with a thousand years of history, on the south of the most prosperous “Wild Geese on the Sandbank” walking street.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through the visit on the rapid development of tourism in the ancient town 'water Street', the streets meet the practical characteristics of local economic development and cultural investigation, students objectively reflect their ideas, focus on the participation degree and process, get the purpose of training in social practice.

Our school has one E-lesson preparation room, 4 computer classrooms. 240 Computers are used most frequently daily by students. School has a campus network with accessing 30M broadband fiber.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Time is limited: the learning task of high school students is very tight, they have morning class, classes during the day, evening class everyday, the school life is very regular, while we are interested in participating in the tournament, but time is limited, through repeatedly adjustments, we finished field trips. We learned information technology and network technology in Senior high school, there are great differences between those books on the theory and practical operation, with the help of teacher, we has been a qualitative leap in the image processing, the arrangement of words to the end of the web. This is the first time to participate in such activities, we meet a lot of difficulties and problems in the process, but we overcome the difficult problem in the process and enjoy happiness!

5. Our Project Sound Bite

With perseverance, one can even carve mental and gold. As high school students, we should take this attitude and tackle with any hardships in the spirit of perseverance.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

High school curriculum reform attaches great importance to the cultivation of the social practical ability of students, and thus lists the comprehensive practical activity as one of the compulsory courses with investigative study and social practice as its core content. In the process of independent exploration and personal practice, students will utilize their existing knowledge and experience in an all-round way and learn how to study in cultivation of their humanistic spirit and scientific literacy. And high school basic knowledge on information technology network is listed as an optional course, which will help students to increase their knowledge and improve their basic network skills through personal practice.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used Digital Camera to take shoot; used “Photoshop”,”CorelDraw” to edit images; used 17888 Template Website platform to make webpage and build website.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We would like to introduce the Pingle ancient town to the outside world through our practical investigation and exploration and to create a street with a deep cultural ambience, so as to make it a beautiful local landscape and help to publicize the local tourism development.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The development of Pingle tourism industry undoubtedly has a certain role in promoting the local economy, beautiful scenery and waterscape streets attract more tourists, the street culture is also an important factor to attract the audience, our work is to better promote its bright characteristic to the outside, to show the local tourism resources.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Aunt Zeng, a silk shop owner; and Mr. Li Jinliang, a restaurateur provided pro bono assistance for interviews. Teacher Zhao Li-bing took his hand and showed us how to use digital camera. Chinese teacher Tian Jun helped us with referring to articles and making changes in the material.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

In the process of independent exploration and personal practice, students will utilize their existing knowledge and experience in an all-round way and learn how to study in cultivation of their humanistic spirit and scientific literacy, and which will help students to increase their knowledge and improve their basic network skills through personal practice.
