Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Menyuan rape flower scenic spot is located in the south of Qilian Mountain, and the altitude of it is about 3000 meters, with the plateau climate. Starting from Xining, along the G227 National Highway, through DaTong County walking west, passing through the scenic gorge treasury Osaka and meandering mountain winding road through the mountain tunnel Osaka, we got to the rape flower scenic spot. Menyuan is the major oil-producing area in Qinghai Province and the Northwest areas.

2. Summary of Our Project

The theme of our study is Menyuan rape flower, mainly make shooting, interviews, information gathering and collation about Menyuan rape flower, the environment, the development and construction and other protective sources. During the period, we got the strong supports from company and the local community characters and units, we therefore have a lot of materials. In the course of the activity, We both felt overwhelming rape flower under the blue sky, white clouds and snow-capped mountains, we also saw the ecological and environmental protection issues as human travel brought and uncivilized way to travel. Through special events, we call on everyone to protect the beauty around and cultural travel of the visitors.

Our school's computer room has demolished, but a new room has not been established. Then the teacher’s office can access to Internet, but the speed is very slow, and very difficult to download information and materials. Our students do not have computers at home, even not to mention about the Internet. A lot of material and references only can be downloaded in the teacher's office at noon and after school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In the process of project study, we have encountered many difficulties. The first is the instability of campus network, for downloading the material is very slow. We have to wait a long time. In addition, our time is intense, a lot of the work is finished at noon, the afternoon after school and even take advantage of the weekend. Second, in the Website design, we also encountered a lot of problems, such as a lot of software does not know how to use, and the problem of English translation. Fortunately, there are instructors and staff of Town and talents to help us solve these problems. In order to gather the real first-hand material, we investigated Menyuan rape flower scenic spot where is very far, so school leaders sent a car to take us. We thank them for their enthusiastic help and care!

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The event received strong support from school leaders, teachers and local staff. We have experienced too many ups and downs. Of course, the most important thing is we have a lot of harvest, broaden our horizons, but also improve our social practice activity. Through the activities, we let more people know the importance of civilized travel, and further promote the great beauty of Qinghai - Menyuan rape flower, and welcome the number of tourists come to Qinghai.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The topic of our activities to introduce the Menyuan rape flower scenic spot as our main line, showing the environment and a beautiful view of the hometown. The thematic research program is complementary with the new curriculum reform. In practical activities, students showed great enthusiasm, and actively participate in exploring, to experience what they never learn. Personally into the community, the nature, comprehensive practical activities, they combine the books of knowledge with reality. In process of the production, visit, we encourage each other, communicate with each other, not only to enhance the friendship between us, but also learn spirit of teamwork. During activities, we have got the support and help of many people, Thanksgiving everyone who helps us selflessly!

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware: Computer, digital camera Software: Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, ACDSee, CuteFtp In the practice of social activity, we learned the communication skills, information collection and teamwork, learned how to transform images and information into website pages, how to upload and download files with FTP, how to use Google, CAD and Word.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The special events, we make team division of labor. We encourage each other, learn from each other, and cooperation and exchange, and work together to complete the special events. I hope that through our efforts to introduce the natural beauty of the hometown, so that more people know about our hometown, so that more people come here to watch, to take photo. Also we need remind visitors to travel civilization. Strengthen local service awareness, and develop the economy.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The special studies give students a comprehensive practice opportunity, for students to learn the knowledge and experience that they can not get in the textbook Through our interviews, local people and managers also be fully aware of the economic benefits of tourism, further strengthen the sense of service to all of us. Through this special event, we come to know through a web portal source of great beauty Qinghai rape flower, and understand where the original ecology of natural beauty. We promote the development of local tourism and attract more tourists to come here to watch, to take photo, further stimulating local economic development. Our work better promote the tourism resources in Qinghai to the outside world.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Mrs Li zhihua and Mr Lv qing from TTT company provided us technical supports on our website. Mr Ma saimai, Leaders in Dabanshan landscape told us all about Menyuan Rape flowers scenic spot, and accept our interviews. Mr Yi qixian, Principal of Xinzhuang town center school ,pay much attention and give support to our project and send a car for us to go interview. Mr Han guoyuan and Hou jisheng coordinator and organizer, help us edit our writing and make webpage. Mr Han sailimai, residents nearby scenic spot, Accept our interview, give us a introduction of local specialties. Mr Ye qilin, Director of Haomen farm ,accompany us through Haomen farm, introduce their products.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

During the completion of this special study, we not only learn some computer technology, but also deeply appreciate overwhelming arrogance of the rape flower under the blue sky, white clouds and snow-capped mountains. With the progress of the case studies, we exercise our social practice activity, and understand the importance of our civilization tourism.
