Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

The origin of the LuKang Folk Arts Museum There is an old saying in Taiwan “1st Fu, 2nd Lu, 3rd Meng-Jia”. The 2nd Lu means Lu-Kang, which was one of most important town of culture in Taiwan history. History researchers called the 4th period of the Taiwan Culture “Lu-Kang Period”, which was from 1684 to 1842. On November 10, 1973, Mr.Gu zheng-fu and his elder brother, decided to donate their house to the society in order to promote the Chinese culture, preserve historic relics, develop tourism, encourage the local teenagers to study. Besides, they set a culture foundation of LuKang Folk Arts Museum. The Process of Establishment The foundation was formed in April, 1973. Mr. Lin wei-zen, the principal of Chin-Cheng High School, was charged the affairs of the foundation. Mr. Lin invited local scholars to form the committee of the foundation. In the end of the same year, a well done library was also ready for the resident to study. The library was formal unveiled on November 10, 1973.

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:more than 6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

In a highly developing era of modern IT, all of the students, teachers, the schools and the parents can communicate with each other by means of internet, which breaks through the limit of time and share all the internet material with each other. We found a Facebook group to share all of the learning experience and material, anytime and anywhere. Besides, making the research with the computer could make all the members to be independent while studying. There is one computer lab in our school. There are 40 PCs for students, 30 PCs and 18 laptops for teachers. In addition, there are three digital white boards for teaching purposes, which can also share web materials among teachers. The host machines are two Linux servers and some other servers for different purposes.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In the process, we had met many problems; however, we solved them, and finished the task. All the members were so serious when conducting the interviews in the museum. It was very tired, but we gained much from the project, especially in the domain of using computers. There was an old saying “no pains, no gains”. It took much time to record. Due to that it was the first time for us to join the contest. We did not know how to note the problems well at the very beginning. All the narrators were speaking too fast to get well what they were talking about. Therefore, there were some adjustments: 1. studying sheets to remind the members of the team. 2. Preparing voice record and camera recorder to record the Audio guidance. 3. to record in a very high speed by hand. Slow typing speed. Since that all of the study procedures had to be record by computers, it was a tough task.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We interviewed, visited, researched, wrote, and combined all the related data to present the depth of Chinese culture.

The simplified answers are as following: It was very important for we learned how to use all these kinds of IT equipment at school. In fact, they were also our team mates. Without them, we could not even finish the task. They saved much time and really did us a great favor during the contest. Besides, we also wanted to thank all the directing teacher of our team for they taught us how to use all these IT equipment to save time and did a very good job and made so many website in the end.

Please refer to the following website for the detail answers: http://librarywork.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2015/gsh7946/narrator.html

The simplified answers are as following: Feedbacks from tourists: In order to realize the feeling of the tourists, with directing teachers’ help, we made a questionnaire research to the tourists in the Lu-Kang Folk Art Museum. Collect information from narrator in the museum: Students interviewed the live report of the narrators, Mrs. Huang Zin Yi, Miss Jian Hei Qing, Mrs. Gu Lin Zing, and Mrs. Shu Shiu Nan. Students also interviewed the volunteer team of Lu-Kang High School and the vice president of the museum. Student’s feedbacks of the museum interview trip are translated as following: What interested us most was the bedroom of the Mr. Gu. Miss Jian’s narration was so clear that we could easily understand, and the stories were interesting. In order not to break the historical relics, we laid on the ground to finish the learning sheet. Mrs. Gu introduced the Room 204, 205 and 206 for us, and her excellent narrations. One of the questions in the interview of the vice museum president are as following: Q: It was said that there were a lot of tourists come to visit the museum. However, how come there are fewer and fewer so far? A: There were many causes. The main cause was that in 1973, there was only one museum in the Lu-Kang area, however, there were more and more various museums appearing in the local area. As a result, there were fewer and fewer tourists coming to the museum. So far, there were about 50,000 tourists per year and the price of the ticket is 50 dollars in order to maintain the quality of the exhibitions of the museum.

The simplified answers are as following: We all felt very excited when the teacher told us that if we would join this plan and the contest. However, as soon as we joint the contest, we know that we should make more progress in the IT skills in order to finish the task on time. Thanks the vice chairman of the museum, and the directing teachers at school, we solved most of the problems effectively. As the teacher was directing us about how to write an outline of the plan of the research project, all of the members brainstormed and hoped to have a different work to join the contest. People could get the first information from the website before visiting the museum. Moreover, the scholars of culture and history could have deeper knowledge about the Lu Kang Folk Art Museum. In addition, we also introduced various usages of the website, such as taking wedding pictures in the museum and people of Lu Kang, Fu Xing and Suiu Sui would get a special off on the ticket price. The purpose of the historical relics was presented in details that we hoped after the tourists surf on the website, they can easily get their first impression to the museum.
