Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Yilong, located in the transition zone between the northeast of Sichuan basin and the hill of Sichuan, middle reaches of Jialing River, belongs to Nanchong city Sichuan province. Yilong county has a long history, the history of construction county has been 1500 years. In December 1st, 1886, revolutionary and statesman, military strategist admiral Zhu De was born in a tenancy Barn House in Li Jia Wan Linlang mountain Yilong County Sichuan Province. Zhu De is a great man who was born in our hometown Yilong. As the fellow-townsman of Zhu De, we are proud. Under the guidance of the teacher, we selected the hometown of Zhu De as project. Through this project, we can let more people know about the life of Zhu De, and we can further know our hometown, though our ability is limited, we believe that, in this way, we will be able to show the hometown of Zhude to friends around the world, deliver our love for the hometown, at the same time, we also hope that through this way of propaganda, we can let more people visit Yilong and the great man.

2. Summary of Our Project

Through carrying out production activities, we have a more comprehensive understanding for the a founding father of a country, and we have a deeper understanding to the tourism culture of hometown, more profound understanding the former residence of Zhu De red culture connotation. As a member of Zhu hometown, we have the responsibility and obligation to protect the hometown of Zhu. Through the web page activity, we learned independent research, comprehensive used existing knowledge and experience to solve the problem, learned to communicate with people in an interview, not only increased our knowledge, but also mastered the basic skills of information technology, it is a good exercise for us.

Our school uses a 10MB ADSL line to access internet. One computer room in our school offers more than 30 computers, but only 5 or 6 computers are available for internet access.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Webpage making sprint stage requires a lot of time, and the final exam is approaching. Students are carefully prepared for exams, because all of them expect a excellent results. But four of us have to spare a lot of spare time to make web contest works, some teachers don't understand us. In the coordination and communication of school administrators and teachers, we finally got all the teachers support. We can only use the camera that the town and talent western story gave, pixel also meets our request, but the effect of vision is poor. There are many computers in our school,but all of them are old, and most of them can not work normally, not to mention to make web page with them. We just use the computers to input data. The radio and television networks are used in our school, the speed is not steady, one of the four plays can not access to the internet. The school office can access to the Internet, most of the contents of our website only can be finished with the spare time and weekends, we finished the work under the guidance of teachers in the computer of teacher office. Although Zhu De is a great man in our hometown, we only know his name for the kids after 2000 years, and it is more than 20 kilometers from the hometown of Zhu De, so we have a few chances to go to his hometown, and this is the first time for some of the members. In order to fully grasp the relevant data about the hometown of Zhu De, we invited little announcer in Zhu De hometown for making full explanation for our interview, and focus on interviewing the old man and guides who have worked in scenic spot for a long time. Finally, we found Mrs. chen, who was the administration in the hometown of Zhu De, she provided a large amount of text data and the various attractions of the pictures for us. Under the guidance of the teacher, we also searched some of the scenic spots information on the network after coming back. Our efforts were not in vain, we finally sorted out the complete data.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

On the Linlang mountain scenic area, the former residence of Zhu De has attracted many tourists to come here for sightseeing with her beautiful natural scenery and thick red culture , this is our pride of the people in Yilong sichuan. Based on the interview for former residence of Zhu De Linlang mountain scenic area, we have a more profound understanding for the culture of our hometown and the great men in our hometown. Although the power of our team members is still very weak, the level should be improved in this activity, we have delivered the red culture of the Zhu De old Linlang mountain scenic area to the friends around the world. Over the past two months,for the common goal, we united as one to come over the difficulties together, although it is very hard, we got more knowledge, the ability has been improved, and the work is finished successfully!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Since our school joined the town and talent WestChinaStory Project, administrator teacher told us that writing stories can improve our writing skills and the annual Webpage contest can improve our computer skills. In new semester, our school teacher encouraged us to participate in Cyberfair when WestChinaStory team meetings were held. After looking the Web portfolios designed by other school, and through the explanation of teacher, we just hoped to take part in the project. By the appeal of Town and Talent company and the arrangement of the school, we formed a group of 6 members. After the administrator teacher signed up online, our web production team began the study immediately.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

In the research process, we visited Memorial responsible comrades of the former residence of Zhu De Linlang Mountain Scenic Area, the local part of the older people, the former residence of Zhu De Linlang mountain scenic area and cultural undertakings of social circles, listened to explain of the scenic area announcer. We also shared the knowledge and work with all the students from the grade four to gradenine. We hope that the people understand the former residence of Zhu De Linlang mountain scenic area culture deeply, to inspire people to love beauty of their hometown, share the spirit to praisethe great.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our classmates including many people in our hometown just know a little about Zhu De's former residence Linlang mountain scenic area, not to mention its historical and cultural connotation. Through our research, we share the achievements with students and the villagers, let them know the home tourism resources, profound understanding the beautiful and wonderful former residence of Zhu De Linlang mountain scenic area, and great splendor of commander Zhu from birth to death, and at the same time, we also learn more about the charm of our hometown.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Our classmates including many people in our hometown just know a little about Zhu De's former residence Linlang mountain scenic area, not to mention its historical and cultural connotation. Through our research, we share the achievements with students and the villagers, let them know the home tourism resources, profound understanding the beautiful and wonderful former residence of Zhu De Linlang mountain scenic area, and great splendor of commander Zhu from birth to death, and at the same time, we also learn more about the charm of our hometown.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

In the process of making web sites, we found: we live in Zhang Gong Zhen, although it is only twenty km from the former residence of Zhu De Lin Lang mountain scenic area, we only heard that the former residence of Zhu De Lin Lang mountain scenery was very beautiful, and we had never been there, not to mention the legend behind the former residence of Zhu De Lin Lang Hill scenic area, to understand its real red culture connotation. Now through the in-depth study, we found a lot of things we did not know before, such as natural and simple pastoral scenery, magical and unique landscape, bright and beautiful water landscape, the star shaped Linlang mount, the Chinese map shaped Ganen Lake, legendary Jiaoding mountain...... We can say that every mountain and every piece of water is the scenery and story.
