1. Description of Our Community
There are many books interesting for reading in school library, but it’s always too late when we think of borrowing them from the library. We turn to the small library, BuZi Library, around school. We cannot say that there are many books there. However, we can search on the Internet to see if there are the books we are looking for in the library so that we can save time to borrow the books. In addition to the convenience of borrowing books, the library attracts all people from toddlers to old grandpas and grannies. What on earth can make such a little a library charming place? We little bookworms have gone visiting the library and share the interview we made there with you.
2. Summary of Our Project
Pu zi Library is located near Taoyuan County Performing Arts Center. There are many bookstores and schools in the neighborhood. Most of the bookstores , however, only sell stationery. The school libraries are open during school hours. Pu zi Library, therefore, is a good place for people to go in the weekends. In addition to providing book-borrowing and reading services, the library also hold exhibitions with surrounded schools. People going to the library can go to the parks for a walk to take a look at the green vegetation and relax for a while when they get tired since the library is very close to Chuangjing Park and Chung Cheng Park. Children can even go to the playgounds within the parks to have fun. In such an urbran area where tall buildings are standing in great numbers, the library is just the place people need for recreation and reading.

School network is academic network .Because members of team are students and teachers, it is mainly used for editing research data by computer and collecting related data by school network environment
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
(a)The Interview Capability Interviewing people are very different from chatting in the ordinary time. It isn’t necessary to think what we need to ask when we talk to classmates. But we need to talk to strangers on a purpose and we need to make them understand our questions so that we can get the information we want. To meet the project theme, We were asked to draw mind maps, list the questions we wanted to ask, and rehearsed the interviews so that we weren’t so nervous when we went on the real interviews. (b)Time Management We had to use our break time between classes or after lunch for discussion. Our parents have been arranging other learning programs after school for us because all of us are sixth graders. We needed to make the most use of Wednesday’s lunch break for interviews or discussion and then updated or revised the project content. We felt tied up since we were required to have things done in the very limited time. However, we were happy to learn in this way. Moreover, we were stunned to know Pu Zi Library was going to be renovated for a whole month after we set the topic in November. That means we had to collect all the related information in advance and waited for its reopening. Until December, we could do nothing but manage all the collected data and pictures. (c)IT Capability We usually draw or color on paper. We thought it’s easy to make a change. But we got to know it’s not easy to edit computer graphics when the teacher scanned and modified our work. All the graphics needed to be enlarged then modified. All the photos had to be fixed with a photo retouching software if they were shot too brightly or too darkly to be well presented. (d)Information Collecting When we made an interview appointment with the Aunties Librarian, they would like to receive us warmly. But they were too busy to receive our interview when we went there on Wednesday because they need to put all the books for the interlibrary service in order before the readers …
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Pu Zi Library is a small library in the neighborhood. But we won’t go there unless there are special activities or parents accompany us there. Usually we’d rather go to the main library to borrow books since there’s a larger collection of books there. But the enthusiasm to read is often vanquished when we go a long way there and fail to borrow the books we want to read. City Library has digitized the collections of books in every of its branches. We can easily get the books we desired as long as we are familiar with the searching and borrowing function on line. Together with the interlibrary services, we can save the time going a long way to the main library. We believe everyone can make the most use of our good neighbor, Pu Zi Library, in case of knowing the convenience of inter-library service.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
a)IT education:Basing on the thematic learning, students need to make use of a wide range of Internet data, and then make the project more comprehensive by paying visits and making interview. The official curriculum related in doing the project is the cultivation of the capabilities such as the preparation of making interview questions, the ways to ask the interviewees questions and the rehearsal of the interviews .All the preparations make the interviews more smoothly. However, it was difficult for us to have the common leisure time for discussion since we sixth graders have many other schoolwork and activities. We used the lunch break time for discussion and we often couldn’t help but end the vehement discussion because the lunch break was so short that it came to the end quickly then started all over again.So we moved our discussion to network platform in order that we could have a more complete record of our thoughts without the limit of time and space. (b)Active Exploration:At school,we learn with textbooks. We know what we are supposed to learn as long as we read the textbook. But we learn from this project that learning is not just from the textbooks, we probably find none from the textbooks.The only thing we can do is searching step by step. At first, we didn’t know what we could do to introduce Pu Zi Library. We had no ideas until we visited the library and interviewed people there.We met some difficulties such as being turned down to make interviews. Some people refused to be interviewed in the library.The librarians couldn’t accept interviews because they were tied-up with their work.In spite of these setbacks, we solved the problems and completed the project with the assistance of our teachers and parents.
