1. Description of Our Community
As the capital of Taiwan, Taipei City has heavy traffic, skyscrapers, and prosperity. This is the typical impression people hold towards Taipei. However, as Taipei citizens, we are aware that Taipei still has large room for improvement. The Balcony Project allows us to realize the serious consequences from people’s selfishness in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment and the resulting messy appearance of the city. The Meet Taipei: Design project shows the deficiencies of Taipei, despite its good living quality. City Yeast is active in Taipei, and has brought gradual changes to Taipei through culture and design. It also encourages Taipei to be a better place. The city we live in is full of prosperity and ty, and will continuously improve through City Yeast.
2. Summary of Our Project
How many people really care about Taipei, this bustling city? How many people truly love Taipei and hope for the best of Taipei? Taipei has many unique features to be discovered and preserved, without being globalized and lost. City Yeast is devoted to help urban residents discover the beauty of Taipei and cultivate their feelings toward the city, by attracting the residents’ attention and curiosity through creativity, in order to develop city features that all residents are proud of. We hope that our research on City Yeast, and simulation of activities of City Yeast, we can show everyone the unique features of Taipei. Our joint efforts will make Taipei a better place.
In order to explore and introduce City Yeast, this Cyberfair project will be presented in 5 sections: introduction of City Yeast, fermentation action (including all the activities of City Yeast), foreign yeast (foreigners participating in City Yeast), voice of yeast (interviews with relevant persons, questionnaire survey) and yeast effect in school. The unique part of City Yeast is their creative, interesting, and meaningful projects. In order to experience the contents and processes of their work, we implemented our own creative and meaningful activities on campus. This is the yeast effect in school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome
The main obstacle is the difficulty to coordinate our time. There are so many activities in senior high school. We need to prepare for cheerleading right after summer vacation, and the subsequent high school musical. Those are exhausting activities. Moreover, our team members are from three classes with different courses, homework and schedules, which make contacting very time-consuming. Nevertheless, we remind each other of meetings. Even though we may miss the meeting due to other activities, we bring our tasks home to complete. Important progress during meetings are passed on to those who could not attend. We try our best to minimize the impact of our busy high school life on the project progress.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
All of our team members are very talented, and we are confident that our project is better than others. On the other hand, as the team members have different traits, there are some disagreements, and we could not be united as we wanted. Moreover, some team members may not be able to complete the assigned tasks on time due to their occupied schedule. In this Cyberfair project, we have learnt many things, such as making a webpage, soliciting responses from other people regarding our ideas, researching and finding interview subjects, and developing strong local awareness. From this research theme, we see our city from a brand new perspective, and explore our residence from perspectives we never thought of before.
This Cyberfair project takes a long time. We often carry out interview after school or even on weekends. There is no regret. We have this rare opportunity to explore the city, our surroundings, and even ourselves from a new angle.
