Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Tongjiang, is located in the northeast of Sichuan, belongs to Ba in ancient times, belongs to Bajun in Qin Dynasty, it has 1500 years of history. It covers an area of 4116 square kilometers, population is 730000, is known as 'the capital of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area', 'Chinese Red Army town', 'Chinese Tremella town', 'Chinese cave town'.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our hometown has rich tourism resources: the world rare water-eroded cave, mountains and stones; there is natural Forest Park with negative oxygen ions in the mountain, this is a good place for people suffering from pollution in the city; there is folk customs experience in northern Sichuan, natural green food, it is a great place to travel. Because of the traffic problem, the tourism resources are not fully utilized, we want to through this competition, to introduce the Tongjiang tourism resources for everyone.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

We are surfing on the internet through the Internet network optical fiber, the bandwidth is 5M. Because there are so many computers in the school LAN that the speed of single computer is slow.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Lacking courage problem: as the teacher has to go to school, so we have to depend ourselves to go to the scenic spots, we never went there before and we were anxious. After persuading of our teacher, we finally have the courage to set out. Travel problems: because scenic area of Nuoshui River is wide, scenic spots are distributed widely, how to arrange the line and considering the cost and time become a big problem. After our discussion, we asked teacher Li who had ever been to the scenic area, we decided to go to Zhongfeng hole at first, and then through Louzi town to go to Kongshan Park. Time promble: because scenic spots are distributed widely, and our courses are more, so we have to carry on the subject in the weekend. How to arrange time became a big problem. So we complete our interviews and gathering data in the weekends. Network problems: because we are located in the mountains, traffic is inconvenient, network is slow, and network problems often happened, it brings us some problems, but mobile services help us solving the problem. The power failures: our home is located in mountainous areas, and the electricity will go off once it rains. Vegetation in our hometown is very good this year, the electricity will go off once it rains or blows. So the information we have acquired cannot be timely input on the computer; and we cannot use the Internet to find information to complete webpage. In this case, in order to finish our work, we had to work overtime in the evening. The lack of computer knowledge: In countryside, transmission of information is relatively difficult, we are lack of hardware and computer knowledge, in this case, the school provides us with two laptop computers to complete the project. Our guide teacher specialized training to players who participate in Cyberfair, to guide the players to find information online, learning the relevant technology of webpage making.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The result is not important, the most important is that we learned a lot of things which we cannot learn on the book in the whole process: how to communicate with people, how to use some advanced equipments, learned a lot of cultural knowledge about the cave formation. We should have courage to solve problems when we have problem.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Through this project research, we adapted to communicate with different strangers, we find it hard to speak before communicating, but after the interview, we find that to communicate with people is a pleasant experience. And we understand the importance of team. This research project let the students know more about the tourism resources in Tongjiang County. Through this activity, the students know more about the tourism of Tongjiang County, the students are willing to participate in such activities, to go to our scenic area to visit. And through this activity, the students made some posters in campus, and let more students to understand and even like our scenic area.
