Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Allow yourself some enchantment and adventure. Visit Antique, historic land of the Binirayan festival, majestic mountains, cascading waterfalls, white beaches, rich fishing grounds and white water kayaking. Antique is a province of the Philippines located in the Western Visayas region. Its capital is San Jose and is located at the western portion of Panay Island, bordering Aklan, Capiz, and Iloilo to the east. Antique faces the Sulu Sea to the west. It is a a hidden paradise which is a must to visit.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our project focuses on the beautiful tourist spots that are in the province of the western most part of Visayas, ANTIQUE. It's a place to visit.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Now that our school has 72 computer units, with 40 computers having Internet connection, both the Special Science Class (SSC) and the regular class students take Computer Education as their elective subject and enjoy free Internet access. Activities in relation to the CyberFair Competition were mostly done at school. The school has helped us a lot.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The students who worked for this CyberFair project had problems creating the site. The students found it really hard because they weren't able to find time to focus on this project alone since they belong to the Special Science Curriculum and they are graduating students. The project is due on the graduation day of the students. They had to push the limits and really tried their best to participate in this activity.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Beat the odds. Shine bright like a diamond.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The Cyberfair is where we applied the things we have gained knowledge from the subjects namely Research, Journalism, Language, and Computer Education. Photo enhancement, web designing, grammar, and photography were developed and enhanced during the creation of the project.

Also, the project enabled us to socialize with other people around our province. It has taught us to search more knowledge patiently.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The success of this project is due to the help of the different tools we have used such as laptops, desktop computers, Internet connection, media, cameras, books, newspapers, and oral interviews.

These tools helped us through making us access different useful information easily and with no hassle. The tools were found in the houses of the students and in school. The school let us use the computers in making the said project. The most valuable tools were the laptops since we create the site using these. The most useful was the Internet connection since we can update the site and the project summary/checklist through the connection to the World Wide Web.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through our Cyberfair project, we were able to improve our skills in dealing with people using the sources we had. We were given a chance to present a site not just for Antiqueños but also to the people around the world, who are interested about our chosen topic.

We have shown the different tourist attractions in Antique and it is for the world to unveil and experience the fun and excitement that Antique has to offer.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our project will really make a difference especially in helping the Department of Tourism promote the beautiful spots of our province. The people will be able to get useful information most especially when they are planning to visit a place in Antique. Moreover, the government will be encouraged to strengthen the tourism in Antique.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Teamwork is the key towards reaching every goal. Through the combined hands of the students with the help of their teacher, the project is a success. Also, the students needed not a lot of advice to complete the entry since they used the knowledge and lessons that they learned throughout their high school in making this project.
