1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?
The tools we use include: 20 Pentium computers, two local phones and twenty cellphones(3 iphones and 18 htc phones), 1 dv, 2digital cameras, references from the library. The tools help us to gather the information needed for the project. All the tools we need are provided by our school. I think the most valuable tools are computers for we can use them to make reports by combining all the data we collect. Thank to the popularization of computer technology which makes us absorb the knowledge fast. Thank to the popularization of printing which provides us with more profound learning. Thank to the elder interviewees who make us grasp a beam of light from obscurity. Thank to the world which leaves so much beauty for our future.
2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.
Students call the interviewees in advance and make appointments. Ask for the interviewee's consent to record the interviewing contents. The first meeting will hand out the project narrative to the interviewees. I think the students learn the most out of this interview for they finish asking the question in only 5 minutes. Teachers point out the problem immediately and ask for the interviewees’ forgiveness because the interview has to be redone. Both interviewees excuse us and let students redo the whole process. They say in humor:” Everybody makes mistakes, especially for the first time.” Thanks for the patient interviewees to let the students learn more.
3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?
After our project finished, the villagers understand more about the factory and their history. The feedbacks are incredible. Those students and their families who have been helped by the foundations all show their appreciation toward Sheng Ren Textile and us. I think the project is wonderful. Our website has provided people a better understanding about the enterprise and their benevolence.
4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?
During the process of interviewing, happen to encounter the parents of student who have work in the Sheng Ren Textile. To increase the experience of interviewers and to understand more about the factory, we arrange a formal interview in the school. Coincidentally, the student’s parents bring another staff who still works in the factory to school. However, he didn’t get the boss’s approval. Therefore we can only interview him personally but not officially. It’s a pity but we’re still glad that students can respect individual privacy.
5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
From the project, we have found a thing: It's easy to know but difficult to practice. Especially the writing of the characters drafts. It seems to be simple for creating only 10 minutes of it, but it tooks us lots of mental and physical efforts. Sometimes the progress can be caught up with those who take a leave. The problem is sometimes more complicated than it looks. However, after all the fragments add up together to be the results, we all feel excited that we have accomplish the mission impossible. We can't help ourselves but hold each other and cry.
