Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Jian-men flower and fruit farm in Changhua County Village Jiadong Village, Changhua County Government selected as the quality of teaching and parenting sightseeing orchard. Total Park size is made up of 1.2 hectares of agricultural land, which has more than citrus fruits, oranges, citrus, honey tangerine. The farms uses organic farming to operate, in 2005, the third-generation farmer, Mr. Lai, Zhong-tian was awarded the Shennong Award. Jianmen flower and fruit farm not only is a good place to pick fruits, is also a good place to observe the insect ecology and the best nature classroom.

2. Summary of Our Project

Jian-men flower and fruit farm ‘Good Agricultural Practice’ are the marks of leisure farms. Most villages of Changhua County in the past had a number of orange producers, but years ago the trees suffered from the Huanglong disease, farmers have to eradicate the fruit trees and replant Kyoho grape instead. Both father and son insisted on using large areas to plant citrus oranges and switched to organic farming instead and transition for leisure and eco-tourism farms. We hope that through the visits, we may understand the cultivation of citrus fruits using organic farming methods and also to understand the beliefs and objectives of running the operation and to ensure the smooth sales of their delicious citrus fruits.

the school runs 2 computer labs, with a total of 73 computers. Other administrative computers are about 60 sets, 15 computers are supplied by the teachers, ADSL and host room network connection; host room running on Windows 2000 and Linux servers, and other operating systems. The team mostly uses ADSL connectivity for data query, file transfer and an excellent school network for a class blog. Students and teachers communicate through the blog space to convey messages and upload information, and to participate in the designated topics for discussion. During winter break, Internet information search, information and photo finishing was done in the school computer lab as well as web page editing.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1. Tourists interview are not easy: Guests that came Jianmen farm is divided into the tour groups and individuals. Our customer satisfaction survey originally wanted the balance of the 2 groups but since we cannot grasp the timing of Jianmen, we could only count on our luck. For the tour groups, we asked the Farm owner for the arrival timing of the tour groups so that it may aid us in carrying out our investigation. On the day of the survey, some of the tourists were not welcoming to the questionnaires, but it was through our sincerity as well as our motive of the survey, people opened up and participated in our survey. Usually if it is a smaller group only a representative would answer, which also increases the difficulty we faced while conducting the questionnaire. While conducting the satisfaction with tour groups, we found out that the tour was led by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, as the Bureau itself has its own satisfaction survey, we were worried that visitors will not do our questionnaires, but fortunately when we stated our purpose, they were willing to complete our survey as well, even children were willing to help us!

2 Authorizing the use of graphical equipment as we were not at the place conducting the photo shoot, for example: local ecological, citrus trees and the seasonal change, we were unable to photograph them. Our teachers had repeatedly stressed that we should not violate copyright laws, so we had to seek the consent of the original author Jianmen Central District Agricultural Improvement Station, they knew that we are a creating a special web page and are willing to share their pictures taken. We really thank them for their help.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

In order to understand the cultivation of citrus fruits using organic farming methods and also to understand the beliefs and objectives of running the operation.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)
