1. Description of Our Community

We all belong to the city of Nagpur, which is located in the Maharashtra State (India). Native language is Marathi. People belong to different different ethnic groups, castes and religions.

2. Summary of Our Project

There are various places of tourist’s interest in and around Nagpur. People visit the places on weekends for recreation. So also there are some places of academic interest, where study tours are held. We are creating a website, which deals with all these local attractions (natural and man-made attractions). The website will serve as a tourist guide.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

When students had free time, the computer lab was occupied. When lab was free, the students were busy in exams. So there was mismatch of free time. To overcome this problem, some computer work was done at home. It was decided to have at least one meeting in a week.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Our students got an opportunity to publish their work at international level by participating in the Cyber Fair competition. The project will serve as a reference material for researchers and as a travel guide for tourists. Students were very excited and gave quick response, when this year's theme was explained to them.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Online data collection about Nagpur was done. Brainstorming was also done for the data collection. Bibliography is present in the project.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Internet and Oral Interviews were used as tools of data collection.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We are creating a website through which we will act as online ambassadors.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

As the topic and the tasks were attractive, students started dreaming of creating an excellent project. There was one more reason for the dreaming. Last year our school got 'Honorable Mention Award' in this competition. Hence this year there was much excitement. There were multiple teams of 'Doors to Diplomacy' competition. All the team members and other community members started dreaming united for the better performance in Cyber Fair. Last but not the least, the community members belong to different ethnic groups, castes and religions. But all live here together and share the local attractions. For this competition, all worked together united by considering 'Nagpurian' as a community. Thus this year's theme, 'Dream and Unite' has been implemented.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We got instructions from teachers. They suggested various spots of attractions in the city. Computer teacher explained the method of downloading and saving the photo. There are many website containing good photographs of Nagpur city. Special thanks to all these website makers. Our job was made easy by this online material.
