2. Summary of Our Project

Ever since Qing Dynasty, drama performance transmitted from Mainland China was popular on Taiwan. For the past hundred years, all kinds of theatrical performance were played on the stage of this land prosperously. This led to the colorful and abundant Taiwan opera world. At that time, the interactions between the Straights were frequent, Taiwan normally invited opera groups to perform here, including the most popular Chinese opera ones. Due to there were abundant performance and musical elements that had influence on Taiwan opera. Each opera group absorbed the musical, playing, and staging characteristics to create more attracting performances. Along with various newly arisen entertainments of today, audience has more choices that led Chinese opera lost its audience rapidly. Therefore, we wish to select the topic of Chinese opera to introduce its history, performance, and music and artistic features, to let more people to know and to appreciate Chinese opera. 4. Problems We Had To Overcome

a. It is not easy to arrange the visiting time. It is uneasy that Guoguan Opera Company, National Taiwan College of Performing Arts, and DaDaoChen Opera House were willing to accept our interview, but we had a big trouble at that time. For we had to go to class everyday, we only had Wednesday afternoon that we did not have class that we tried our best to go to visit and interview. But these units were not able to cope with the timeframe. So we delayed our visiting time. Fortunately, teacher Yang coordinated with class mentor to borrow class time in usual day that we finally could go for interview. Thus, our project was continuously conducted.

b. It is not easy to arrange the discussion time in-house. Usually we had to finish the project by using space time, but we also needed to take care of school work and various examinations. Some still needed to go to cram school after school. All of these external factors made the team members tired and troubled. Other times, we might face difficulties and time conflict, and intended to quit. Fortunately, with everybody’s insistence and the encourage of the teachers, we had the belief and dedication to accomplish our tasks.

c. the difficulties of making web page It is completely new for us beginners of web page making to design the web page, treat the pictures, edit the contents, and do the animation effect. Therefore, in the Wednesday afternoons, teachers would arrange computer lessons for us to learn about web page making techniques to let us gradually know about the operation skills and knowledge. Plus the repetition of practice and exercises, we gradually overcame the difficulties we encountered.

d. It is uneasy to sort out huge data. After determining the topic, we began spending lots of time looking for the related data of Chinese opera, from internet to library, we acquired the data we needed. Due to the richness of data, we spent lots of time to read and sort out them in this period of time; and we also …

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We felt that we learned a lot in participating in the research project, for we absorbed plenty knowledge, enriched experiences, and knew more people. We further learned the web page making, interview techniques, and team work and so on. In fact, the entire process was pretty tough. We met plenty setbacks, but we were not afraid and overcame them one by one to achieve our goal by stages. Such enjoyment is beyond words. In the process, there were many unforgettable things. Remembered when we went to each class to promote the Chinese opera activities and made presentations, it was both nervous and exciting. We would never forget it. Finally, we wish to make a web site that is both of artistic substance and liveliness.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

A. To combine with the Language field Through group cooperative learning method, students made progress drastically in terms of expression, communication, using information, reading articles, and sorting capacity. Especially in writing research reports, making presentation, and oral report skills. B. To combine with the Art and Humanism field We made web page of data sorted during the research process and the reflections and photos of those people and things of visiting Guoguang Opera Group. We wish to share the fruits with everybody. In order to let the cultural art of Chinese opera known by most people, we especially invited two classes to appreciate “Plot in the Scheme of the Three Kingdom,” and made presentation to them. In so doing, we wish to let the peers to further understand Chinese opera, and let everybody enjoy the performance delightful and easy-going, and eventually to dig out the beauty of the traditional art of Chinese opera. C. To combine with the Information field We used the digital camera to collect every bits of people and things we ever visited,a nd at the same time to recorded our interviews by digital recording pen. We also search the data via school internet, and put the sorted data on the web page. More importantly, we made the project web page with our research fruition by the knowledge and techniques that we learned about the web page making software. In doing so, we shared our joy and fruits with one another.
