Our Computer Science Specialist, Mrs. Ewa Widera wanted to help us learn beyond our school walls and get actively involved and aware of the bigger world. So, she entered us in the CyberFair Project. 4. Problems We Had To Overcome

In making this project, we have encountered many problems. One of which is lack of time. We can’t just do a website overnight. It requires a lot of time to gather information, take pictures, interview people, encode, design and make the whole website.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Zabrze is Upper Silesian Cultural Center – Let’s show it!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Through this project, we were able to improve our knowledge about the history, culture and traditions of our community. We were also able to improve our communication and social skills. We were able to explore more about the softwares that we’ve used in making this website.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

The informational and technological tools used in creating this project was: from our local libraries, eight online computers, e-mail for the interviews of our coal mine experts and digital camera. Software used includes Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Corel Suite and Mozilla Firefox.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Our students have already acted as ambassadors for our Cyberfair project in several ways. The places we visited were very accommodating during our field trips, and seemed interested in our project. While all did not have the time to answer a lot of questions on the spot, many offered to answer them through email or regular mail. All engaged people were amazed that our students are researching and creating their own web page.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

This project enables people to see our culture and art centers and events in our Town. Many people have visited our project page. Lots of them have contacted with us by email providing testimonial about our work.

We would like to thank members of 'Zabrze Lovers' Association' for providing photographs and information about historical monuments in Zabrze.
