4. Problems We Had To Overcome
1.As Our school was under construction;the new Primary Five-our brother school had no computer room;we had to face heavy pressure from the approaching high school admission;and Wu Jia and I had no home computer,we had to operate the computer in our school at weekends. 2.Our not being able to make webpage.Under the guidance of Teacher Li,we studied while working.Webpages upload was another difficulty we met,so we asked our teacher again and again. And sometimes we uploaded a picture for several times before we made it. 3.Our trouble with information gathering. After receiving the task,we asked our music teachers one after the other. However, they knew little about Ni Wa Wu.Wu Jia and I had referred to our school library, yet without results. We didn't lose heart and we found some information on the Internet. And I had learnt something about the Ni Wa Wu once when I saw my neighbor's little girl playing it. 4.Our trouble with the interview with Yangda Wude.We failed the telephone contact with him several times.Afterwards,I sent a message to him with my uncle's mobile phone and showed him our intention. Finally,he accepted our interview invitation. However, not till the second time we arrived at the Shahu Town,Xidatan did we met him. 5.Busy school life and time shortage. This year we are on grade nine,so we couldn't have had spare time for other matters. However,we shall not give up halfway. So all the non-studying time was spared for the Net Fair.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
It was our honor to participate in the contest which brought me deep feelings. The Chinese nation has a long history of thousands of years, with a rich cultural heritage. This time we mainly did research into the Ni Wa Wu,a folk instrument of Hui as well as China's intangible cultural heritage. It is a milestone in the history of the Hui culture and it embodies Hui people's vitality and creativity. As a middle school student,I have an inescapable responsibility and obligation to carry forward the fine tradition and national cultural heritage. In the past more than two months,I had experienced the excitement and emotion that I can never experience in the classroom. When I walked into Yangda Wude's simple studio, with several dilapidated tables and some in-order-arranged wooden shelves where a variety of Ni Wa Wu is placed and covering and area of less than fifty square meters,is very crowded and is far from my imaginary modern studio. All this made me surprised.I felt excited about the mud moulding processing. When he started to play music,I was as if placed in nature with fresh of strong local flavor. All this made me intoxicated.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
The Ni Wa Wu exporation,as a practical social activity,is a good opportunity for us to enhance our explorting desire and innovation consciousness.Through the visits,we can experience the charm of traditional culture. And the inculcation of social conscience towards us is achieved by associating school and society closely and localizing national culture. The monographic study is a learning process in integration of information technology, art, music, and history curriculum, and our comprehensive practical ability is well nurtured.
