Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

(Haojiagou) This is a very poor area, the poverty here reflects in many areas. Many causes that can lead to poverty and here the main reason are the geographical environment. Under the severe environment conditions, people are unable to create more wealth. The crops, even the best fruits cannot be sold are all because of the impassible road. The family’s main income depends on the husband’s subsistence wage. This time our team decides to use (Haojiagou) as a subject, the main purpose is to call more people to pay attention to Haojiagou and improve the environment and living condition gradually.

2. Summary of Our Project

We hope to build the platform through the “internet exposition” and let more people start to care about Haojiagou’s environment. There are many poor people, they are diligent but cannot be pay off for their efforts. In our investigation process, we found that many resources wasting phenomenon in this small village.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.Interview time can’t be agreed between students and interviewees Though our students all like the interviewing work, but the class time always conflict with interviewing time, in addition ,a majority of students need take lessons after school, so our interview program is consistently suffering tests The teachers individually do visiting, sound recording work, and arrange other time for paraphrasing and discussion. 2.Safety problem The safety of student in the process of doing research outside is an important affair. However, our interview times are always temporary decided, so always lead to conceal of interview because of the temporary safety problem Set interview plan as early as possible, and determine the interview time and safety timetable in advance. 3.Teachers and students have different understanding in participating the thematic studies. Though our students all have interest in participate in research, but they show less interest in doing the hard works such as data processing ,typing of interview content and so on. Have detailed talk with students and illustrate the follow-up data processing and explanations in research processes is the key aspects in the research process. 4.Urgency in make web pages Because the prophase processing work take up a lot of time so the post-making time seems very tight. Hire professional producer to help us to solve our difficult problems 5.Match with school teaching need to be strengthen. Because school is strict in teaching aspect towards teachers and students, the later period for web pages’ production always been occupied by other activities in school, both students and teachers are all complaint about it. Actively contacts with vice-president in charge at school and arrange as less as possible unnecessary activities and works for us, finally time is assured.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Through this activity, our team not only improved our knowledge but also let us understand many things that will not be learnt from textbooks. The process of visiting and investigation, not only widen our horizons but also let us learn to communicate with others. I think we will participate in more activities like this from now on to improve our ability to adapt to society.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The goal of today’s quality education is to educate the students with humanities, organizing capacity, democratic quality, local and international awareness and also become lifelong learning healthy people. We choose the hometown people as research object is with the hope that through thematic information collecting and producing to train the students with abilities that can “carried away.” For example, the planning preparation, data collection, interviews, questionnaires, web pages production skills and so on. In the teaching scene, we found that students all have exploratory enthusiasm but lack adequate guidance. Through our proper guidance, we guide the students to explore topics. Therefore, in the researching process, except the show of research results, we hope through this research, students can be affected by our hometown, and then establish a correct view on life and the world, purify their heart and make them aspire good things as well as away from the ugly. Therefore, we consistently use opportunities to encourage students searching and processing data automatically to realize the impact from hometown and contribute to their hometown.

In this activity what leave the most deep impression is people’s living environment, in today’s rapid developing of society, how can there are still people live under such environment.
