2. Summary of Our Project

Weddings are heard by us almost everyday, but we are not very familiar with the marriage customs in Qinghai, which can be learn from the study of taking, greeting a wife and wedding. Meanwhile, the students can strengthen their information processing ability online which lay a solid foundation for the e-business.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:less than 20

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:1

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1: our interviews are difficult for the compact schedule, H1N1 and other causes. Considering the heavy curriculums, we arrange the entire interviews in the rest time and weekend to make full use of the time. 2: the hardness in journey. To be economy, we rode to the culture center and hurried our interview. 3:Obstacles in interview. To get more firsthand materials and thorough study of the marriage customs, we interviewed Grandpa Wen Yanyuan, 62 years old, who has a impaired hearing and met a lot of difficulties. For more wedding photos, we were blamed by the hosts, but to our gladness, we got the valuable photos. According to the plan, we should interview Mr. Zhu Shikui, expert on folkways, but failed because of piles of obstacles, leaving our biggest regret. 4: overcoming the difficulties. As in the third grade of junior middle school, we, as well as the teachers are busy and took use of the evening time other leisure time to write the summary and the site. When meeting obstacles, we can get encouragement from each others and the teachers. Despite of the time, we are full of confidence. What’s more important, we are influenced by the research on the marriage customs in Qinghai and increased the courage for all the difficulties.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Pressure arose from this competition. As a teacher in this field, our knowledge is far from enough for the students. The textbooks can’t meet the students’ needs in their match and future life and study in which the IT and Internet are the major stream. So I intended to extend the textbooks in the future to meet their desire of knowledge.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

What matters in study and teaching are not only the 40-minute class time or the textbooks but the application of them and the learning ability in real life and practical situation. The teachers should cultivate independence and activeness of the students and guide them to quest, research, investigate and learn in practice, so as to improve the active and individualistic learning with teachers’ guidance. Taking full use of the IT, we should provide rich education environment and powerful tools for the students to learn and evolve. Knowing these, this research provides our students vast opportunities to use knowledge in practice and learn more than the textbooks and finally be the master of knowledge. This activity accounts for the best practice in our school, and the students, who all have enthusiasm in computers, experience the unprecedented learning method. In the operation process, they showed their eager and learned new knowledge. Under the guidance of the instructor, they combined the textbooks and the practical skills, especially those in the information integration during the process of the site designing. Despite the immaturity in the site and research, they know that the textbooks can be rewritten and how the new knowledge is created. The better understanding of the marriage customs in Qinghai taught them the love of the families and the pursuit of peace and the spirit of arduous and plain, which invoke their emotions for the homeland.
