Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Historical and cultural town-Zhongshan Town, located at the riverbank of the Bamboo creek in the southern mountain area of Jiangyin in Chongqing, located at the junction of the Sichuan, Chongqing and Guizhou province, is a state-level scenic spot.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our task Is to introduce the characteristics of Jiangjin town to promote the concept of protection of historical and cultural heritage.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Our school is a primary school in the mountains, the school has poor infrastructure, and so is our computer skill. In the process of making web pages the teacher firstly taught us how to make webpages, how to deal with pictures, how to make a simple animation. And then we work together and help each other as a group. Also our English is very poor, we can’t translate it into English. Although we felt very tired, we learned the image processing, web-page making and other simple computer technology skills, we felt very happy and no regrets.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Through this event, the four students in our teams learned how to get information, deal with the information, and rational use these information from internet. We have greatly enhanced our level of computer operations. In the actual interview process, they learned to communicate with others, they learned to cooperate, learned to ask for help, tempered courage, and also tempered the ability of social practice. In the field investigation, they have passed various tests and overcomed many difficulties, they gained self-confidence, understood how to be strong.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware devices: computers, digital cameras, scanners, U disk, laptop. Computer Software: Dreamweaver web page editor, Photoshop photo processing, Microsoft Word text information editing, flash animation, Internet Explorer Web browser, ACDSee photo browsing. Site Network: Cross-CNC, e-mail, website forums, broadband network, CISS template.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through this activity, students had a a more comprehensive understanding of the history of Zhongshan town, inspired their love for hometown. Taking this opportunity, we wish our publicity can make more people get to know the ancient town and attract more people to come to her.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

This time, we have organized four students to participate in the webpage competition because the four students actively enrolled in it. They learned the initial photographic techniques in the school under our guidance, then they discussed the topics of the interviews. Then we took them to collect the picture material, after arriving at the destination we understood the origins and the stories of the town from different perspectives. Several times we tried to get information and understand the reason from several elders just to know about one tiny legend. After coming back, we collected relevant information from the internet and dealt with the pictures and create web pages,( also, the frequent power outages have brought us a lot of inconvenience, we can only wait for electricity to finish the task) When we saw our works we were so proud and we believe that our efforts will be paid.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

1, The webpage making has been supported by the Congress Chairman Dai Jie of the Zhonshan town. With his help, we had had a comprehensive understanding of the ancient town. 2, We got the support from the Municipal Tourism Bureau, they let us borrow a large amount of information.
