Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Zhangyi Middle School is located in Zhangyi Town, Yuanzhou, Guyuan, Ningxia. It is 38 kilometers away and in the southwest of Guyuan. It is in the place where three counties meet: Yuanzhou, Longde County and Xiji County. There is mild temperature, beautiful scenery and quick traffic. It is dry hill land in loess plateau. The main industry is agriculture.

2. Summary of Our Project

It is an important year for Zhangyi Town. Now the construction of new village is carried out in the whole country. The old buildings have been changed into new building and the uneven earth roads have been changed into wide roads of asphalt. As the younger generation of Zhangyi Town, we also want to do something for our hometown, so we choose the topic to make some researches on the markets here. On the one hand, we want more people to get a better understanding of them, and call on more people to make their own contribution to our town. On the other hand, we want to give our own suggestions to build our hometown. Through the researches on the current situation and the existing problems of the markets, we put forward our suggestions to build our hometown.

The internet environment of our school is quite good now. What makes us regret is that the speed is not so fast. Because we are preparing for the College Entrance Examination, and are busy studying, we feel it is even slower.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.It is the first time for us to take part in this kind of activity. We lack relevant experiences. With the help of our teacher, we gradually make more and more progress. 2.Due to the time limit, we feel puzzled about what to so. With the help of our teacher, we start our research. 3.Due to lack of experiences, we have difficulty in searching the information on Internet. With the help of our teacher and other students, we complete our task. 4.During the interviews, we have difficulty in communicating with other people.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

1.Although Zhangyi is the second largest town in Yuanzhou, its economic development is rather slow. Is it just because of remote location? I think it is mainly because of lack of introduction of our hometown to other people. All the people should shoudler the responsibility for it. 2.Through this activity, we have learned a lot which cannot be learned in class such as the law of market economy. And we get a lot of benefits from the social practice. We become more concerned about our hometown.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

In this activity, we combine the construction of new villages and the sense of independence of our students. We have also combined several courses such as history, geography, culture, computer and social contact. Through the practice, we want more people to have a better understanding of our hometown. We also want to give our gratitude to all the people who have helped us in the activity.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware: computer, DC Software: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, ACDSee, CuteFtp, QQ Internet: E-mail, FTP Server, ADSL (1M) We use a maximum of tools are cameras, through which we recorded as we see everything, through it so we can better understand not only our homeland, and we also hope that more people can know the town of Zhang Yi.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Activities on and out of campus: Through the contact with relevant officials, we introduce something about Liupan Mountain to other students, which makes them have a better understanding of the economic development of the markets in Zhangyi Town and stimulates their sense of being the master of their own affairs. We also organize students to do some cleaning in the streets and in the markets, which makes them realize the problems of the markets.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We had to do this project .An original intention of this project is to let more people know Zhang Yi changed his homeland, and of common concern to the construction of their own homeland. Finally, we are very glad that the construction of a new town government at a time when the town of Zhang Yi, in many ways, they adopted a lot of our recommendations: such as, new public toilet in town, villages and towns bus instead of manned agricultural vehicles, roadside litter also made a change, new large-scale integrated market. Since there are a lot of changes to our proposal. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

1, community people: know what they are equipped with means of transport to the town through random visitations, and know the purpose of fair and so on. 2, Teacher: In particular, Mr.xie gives us the most help, tell us how to use the camera, how to create web pages. 3, students: ask them to help us know the market related issues 4, the town government staff: some of them know about market management and the construction of a number of matters, and to put our proposals back to the town government.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Through this event, we are more clear understanding of our living environment, but also play a role in promoting with building on our homeland. The town did not expect the Government would listen to our suggestions, we made our homeland become more beauty through own efforts , which gave us more love for our homeland! In addition, through a variety of visiting, let our competence of communication get more improvement; through the production of web pages, so that our writing skills, the level of computer operation has greatly improved, let us have never felt the confidence! We are grateful for Mr. Xie’s solution can lead us to take part in this event!
