Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Shangyi county is located at the southern part of inner mogolia grassland, the northwestern part of hebei province. it is the homeland of non-pollution vegetable, the carrot is the top. Recently it bring the economy. right now it is the best season for the carrot. This webpage will lead them to it. Shangyi enjoy the unqiue climate with the big potential. It belongs to the continent wind, distinct four season and full sunshine. The average rain goes 350—420mm and no frost time is around 160-180 days. The temperature is low and big difference, with the average temperature as 3.5, especially in July, Aug, and Sep Here is cool and fresh, with the average temperature 19.1. as the big difference of day and night, the gap is 11-14, it is good for the accumulation. At the same time, the lower is high, the usage is high for the carrot.

2. Summary of Our Project

It is the important in our district and the main resource of the farmer. Now it becomes the mian industry. But owing to some problems, it stop the economic development. We want show the non-pollution and more people start to know.

Server: 1 end 60 ADSL into internet with 1M and WINxp system. All the students are from the village so they use the break time to finish in the holiday.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

This is our first time to attend this match we are very exicting. At the first we have no experience. But we are very careful to collect the carrot details. After a month, we start to do the framework. At the early Oct we upload the webpage to town and talent. After that we recollect the materials and related content. The students are very interested with the title. We interview with the farmers for it. We know a lot from them. After all, we gain a lot through doing the internet match.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Looking back, we felt a lot we love more the homeland and knowing that the cohesiveness is the power.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Bashing district is the basis, the Turnip is the main industry. Daqinggou in shangyi county is the homeland of non-pollution. In recent years, all the vegetable grow fast and the income has increased to some reasons. I though through the publicizing, more people will know it.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

1) in order to know the process of the dry vegetable deep process, we plan to be there. But the factory is not allowed to visit. Through the contact, we have the chance. One Sunday afternoon. We come there. But all the machine is breaking down. We are pity. But the workers told us a lot. We feel the big contribution made for the famers. 2) in order to know the sale condition, we organize the group to do the survey. We are happy when we get there, we meet the reporters but when we interview, they don’t know us and walk away. But we never quit, finally talk with the lady. She told us many things about the sale, cleaning, cool and packing. When we come back to the school, we are happy and proud of it.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We get the welcome to the farmers. All the farmers thought it is just the product, they are happy when we come. We update the knowing of it, making the market prosperous.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

First. We have got the support from the headmaster, Mr Cui ,who had talked many times with the leaders of the dry vegetable-factory and arranged our visit to it ; Second. We have got the help from many vegetable-planting farmers who introduced lots of knowledge about white Turnips.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Through the research, we know the Turnip current development. We do some publicizing making the Turnip to the world and make the economy
