Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Huangyuan county, historical named 'Dangeer', is Dong ke er in Meng language, which means 'white shell'. At the early ming dynasty, hongwu year, it was the guardian city of Xining City, which was enlarged in large scale in Qing dynasty and stands for more than 600 years as a famous ancient city. According to historic record, in the jiaqing and daoguang emperor ruling year in Qing dynasty, many businesses gathered in the city, was named as tea horse commercial center and small Beijing. Among the lanes in the city, there are unique yards, brilliant temple, special lamp row, which carries the deep multi-culture and shows the pictures of the boundary city and reflects the combination of the farm and livestock culture.

2. Summary of Our Project

The old street is 6m in width and less than 1000m in length, connecting the chenghuang temple, wen temple, Dangeer hall and guardian hall. It is the important part of the city and huangyuan folk gathering, showing the historic development and culture characters. I hope to let more people join us through our introducing to the old street. Owing to students, we are starting from ourselves, publicize from class, school and to the world through internet. We trust: no pain, no gain.

We use the cable in 1.6m/sec. we can only use 1 hour for internet owing to heavy burden.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Our school is the only one middle school with poor infrastructure. Our grade can not compete with the other one in 1st and 2nd middle school. All our teachers are treating us strictly. We are not allowed to come out on the class, but only do the homework. So this year the themed plan can only be finished after school. Time is very tight. The teachers will blame us if late. We just finish the work when the teacher is absent or at the IT class. We just take 1 hour at the daybreak to organize and search the material. During the making, we have no experience before; teacher taught us how to do, to proceed, to make the simple cartoon. With the help, we work together and finish the job soon, Everyday Mr. fu arrange us the job in details, but sometimes we fail to do it and delay the schedule. Also our English in not good, we just ask for help from Town-and-Talent. With their help we can finish the project. Though we felt tired, we start to learn how to treat the photo, to make the webpage. We feel proud without any pity.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

The webpage making is nearly finished. We gain a lot from this. First we have more time to learn the computer, and we get a good ability for it. We are more interested in the learning the webpage and processing the picture and simple cartoon. The most important is to let us know more history and homeland culture of this old street. We are attracted by the Chinese culture and history and we love our homeland and country. Through the research, we know that there is no law for protecting the heritage and environment, so there is no harmony and cannot find the responsibility when ruin. We hope through this theme, more can join us and build the related law as soon as possible.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We are in the Ming and Qing Street topic for research projects, not only a combination of languages, history, geography, computer, social, arts and humanities and other subjects in the field of integrated applications, combined with community resources. First of all, in the course of the study, we have trained a lot of important basic ability. For example, browsing through the Web site feature, books, video products, practice reading and learn how to summarize, as well as note-taking. 1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We apply for registered this theme since sep. at the beginning ,we cannot decide the theme. Mr. Fu advise us owing to the heavy burden in the school, we should choose the theme around us for convenient interview. We should highlight the themes. We thought that the most mentioned around is the old street and movement of the citizens. We ask for teacher about this theme. They quite appreciate for its in time for promoting and developing locally, and our group will introduce all over the world our theme. When I come to one people, they are all willing to providing the materials without taking a photo, such as Chao shiming, Li guoquan etc. No matter how we talked, they are not willing to take a photo, just saying they are their obligation. And say thanks for our promoting. In our interview, the president comes to promoting department and planning bureau for collecting the materials and actively connects the interview the staff. They are all working on this theme. And also Li Chengyun, He Wenlu and Zhang Xulin joined us avtively for editing and correcting.
