Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Located in the west of Sichuan Basin and east of Erlang Mountain, Tianquan County is 39km away from Ya’an and 172km from Chengdu, across which Chuanzang Highway goes. You may not know Tianquan County, but you must know Erlang Mountain. In the beginning of 1950s, the PLA forged ahead to Tibet and built a thoroughfare on Erlang Mountain. The song which praised PLA are still handed down till today. Surrounded by the mountains, Tianquan is a small basin where there are a lot of forests and animals such as giant pandas. The pandas here are very kind to human beings and they live together harmoniously.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our research is mainly on the giant panda which has the history of more than hundreds of thousands of years. It has scientific value to protect the diversity of animals and to research the environmental change of the earth. Panda only lives in China and it can digest bamboo which cannot be digested by other animals. Besides, the status of panda has been promoted to a political level. We have donated pandas to many other countries which can show the friendship between different countries.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Difficulty Description Method Different opinions towards the topic The teacher does not have enough experiences and cannot well communicate with students. The teacher tries to find time to communicate with students one by one and get a better mutual understanding. Arrangement of time to make discussions

1. Students are from different classes.

2. Students are busy studying from Monday to Saturday.

They spend their National Holidays on the completion of the tasks. Coordination problems The teacher does not have enough experiences and has difficulties coordinating with others. The teacher spends more time to improve in this aspect. Problems in the data collection As more and more materials have been collected, the sorting out becomes more and more complex, which also brings difficulties to web design. According to the content of web pages, irrelevant materials must be cancelled

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We have realized the important of union through this activity. The power of union cannot be overcome. Although our web is not so good, we have spared no efforts in designing it. We also give our thanks to Town and Talent Co.,Ltd to give us the chance.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Although pandas live near us, we do not have a clear understanding of it. We have learned a lot through this activity such as the distinction of males and females, the food of panda, and other animals living together with pandas. There are a lot of wild berries on the mountain and they taste delicious. ?

And web designing is not so easy as we have imagined before. The allocation of work is very important, but the cooperation is more important. Only by good coordination can we achieve success, which is also learned by us through the activity.
