Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Houbi Township is located Tainan county, the terrain is gentle, the entire boundary is the plain. On the entire humanities landscape, Houbi Township presents the plain agriculture villages and towns the color, the countryside style everywhere obviously. In addition, within the boundaries some main settlements commercial activities also really gentle, if with is close to the villages and towns to compare, its development speed is slower.

2. Summary of Our Project

Taiwan Orchid Plantation position to Houbi Township, is the Tainan county development key type construction. The orchid at present already became Houbi Township important industry, because Taiwan Orchid Plantation certainly can affect to Houbi Township orchid industry, therefore, our school plan take Taiwan Orchid Plantation as the subject, led the student to carry on the garden area establishment the background, the process and the prospect discussion, but besides made some introductions

Our school has a computer classroom, the nearly clear classroom all has a computer, the entire school computer all may penetrate the optical fiber segment to link to the Nan county network center to the Taiwan academic network. Our campus network is a region network, each computer all may the resources share.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

(1) The material pursues the difficulty:Taiwan Orchid Plantation is this two years only then tenable, the written material are not many. Therefore we have to look up the material by the network, again acts according to the content which converses to reorganize, this is we carries on when investigation meets the biggest difficult problem. (2) Personnel time arrangement:Because the school elastic curriculum has arranges the school standard the curriculum, does not have the blank the curriculum to be allowed to use, therefore we use the midday rest the time, Wednesday afternoon, as well as the afternoon is on vacation from school the after time, everybody set discussion subject overhead construction, visit question, material pursuing. (3) Transportation aspect:Taiwan Orchid Plantation and the saccharine agriculture center certainly in ours community, also does not have section of very great distances to our school, therefore the transportation side faces us is a major problem, this on the one hand, we ask teacher to assist, to ask teacher to drive carry us to visit the orchid biotechnology garden area and the saccharine agriculture center.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The Taiwan Orchid Plantation establishment symbol orchid has become Houbi Township the standard industry, but because the establishment time is short, the written material are not certainly many, the network material also many only stops to the news propaganda. We conducted the local homepage special study already to continue for several years, each item all with Houbi Township correlation. 4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The workers in Taiwan Orchid Plantation gave us a lot of information and knowledge about the orchid when we visited Taiwan Orchid Plantation. And the men of our community had teached and helped us how to plant the orchid.
