Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

There’re many volunteers and postulants who belong to different district regiments and are playing various roles in China Youth Corps. Among which the most representative and acceptable one is a counselor called Mr. Zhang and his Self-Support Service Staff. Since each voluntary group has their own beliefs and important history, their attitudes characterize due to different practice. However, the China Youth Corps has an eminent history of providing the Self-Support Service activity from its establishment in 1952 till now. During the past 52 years, their activities have been the yearning wish of the young scholars. The Holiday Activity Service Staff---Lu la la who are trained by the China Youth Service Association located in Taipei are especially skilled in leading all kinds of activity and we are very proud of their excellent performance. And we would like to introduce the stories about them accordingly.

2. Summary of Our Project

The subject this time is to introduce the Holiday Activities Service Staff ---Lu La La who are trained by a branch of China Youth Corps----China Youth Service Association. And we will also introduce the belief and persistence of the subsidiary China Youth Service Association and to let people know how they can create the legendary story about 3,000 seniors and juniors. The subject will be focusd on 1) Knowing China Youth Corps , China Youth Service Association, director Ms. Lee, Chung-Kuei and the selection process of China Youth Service Association; 2) Introducing the Lu La La’s battalion team; 3) The history of Lu La La and its popular songs; 4) The establishment of Lu La La’s service association; 6) The family affection of Lu La La; 7) Brief introduction of execution group. We have interviewed some service staff members who have entered the society and would like to show you the wonderful association.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:more than 6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

Our school is in Taipei and we are equipped by more than 200 sets advanced hardware of computer information, which is able to meet the full request of using computers from every class and every teacher. In August 1999, the Education Information Office applied a special ADSL line, allowing download 3MB and upload 512KB, starting the whole school’s internet study. We cherish every learning opportunity and equipment under the condition of unexpected information scarcity. Our teachers cudgel their brains for developing and planning all kinds of research and programs. They had Internet contests to make sure everybody is proficient in Internet.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

With the help of Lu La La’s Social Service Association director Chiang, Nan-ching and all other Lu La La members, we have no difficulties in collecting the data, but we really have difficulties in interviewing those many men of the time. It is such a great job to interview them one by one! Therefore, we try to invite nonpolitical representatives who reside within Taipei. However, the number of Lu La La still keeps large and we have to visit those who are not so busy. Appreciate so much for Mr. Chiang, Nan-ching’s support with email, MSN and phone communication. And we assure that experienced Lu La La should check the draft carefully. Additionally, in order to do our best when we were recording the song of Lu La La, we invited the parent of our team members and recorded the music once and once again until it sounded perfect. Here, we just want to express sincere thanks to our team members and their parents.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

With the assistance of Lu La La Association, we see this famous organization through unlimited practice and selection for their precious uniform during their young and energetic period. The past time is so beautiful and sweet. No wonder some of the Lu La La are yearning for the past wonderful time with so much affection. And we hope this kind of relationship will co-exist with the association. We are jealous of these seniors for their colorful life as the lyric sung at the concert in 1997,“We gently draw the curtain, waiting for our hearts to revive. Our song echoes in all direction, making the strangers stop to listen. The green forest and the mountain make the heroes feel as gentle as a quiet lake. From then on, we insist on. Can you feel what they think when listening to this song?

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

“The March of Lu La La” mainly sung by the Holiday Service Staff—Lu La La who are trained by China Youth Service Association. They are from a very excellent organization. They live and hold activities in the fields. Their performance belongs to art, human literature and leading characters. Da-zhi Junior High School pays close attention to the students’ all kinds of capabilities and all-around skills. Their joint-class and college activities are so vivid and dramatic. With the teachers’ careful management, all of the gifts of the students are shown out freely. This becomes one of the special features of the school. Therefore, we use the subject of “ The March of Lu La La” to embrace “ Art & humanity”, “languages ”,”the Health & Physical education”, “multifarious activities”, “social studies” and so on. As for communication, we adopt Internet email as the basic method. Our students not only take part in all kinds of activities arranged by Lu La La but also participate in Uniform Awarding ceremony, Rock-climbing, Interviewing men of the time from Lu La La staff and acquiring the information of Lu La La’s commonweal function from films & photos. During the process of the interviewing, every time we gain different knowledge from Lu La La. We go camping and excursion together. We complete our job through entertainment. We are not only interviewers and interviewees. We are also good friends. Not only the young who are in their twenties but also those who are in their fifties are all happy and enjoyably. We ourselves feel sweet and admire Lu La La from the bottom of our heart.

(F).Computer Software:Processing and production of photographs, the film, and web pages using Photo Impact, Dreamweaver, Namo Webeditor, Flash MX, & Ulead Video Studio.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

The students actually know well about “Self-support Activity” or “Summer Camp”. They have participated in this kind of outdoor activity when they were still in the primary school, on their graduation journey, and through the communication between schools. We hope people will know Lu La La much more from the outdoor get-together. For example, we arranged rock-climbing with Lu La La on October 23, 2004 and when we were attending the yearly party on December 11th, Mr. Lai, Hsin-Hong helped us reach the peak of the cliff, and Mr. Chiang Nan-Ching assisted in realizing the holy feeling when experiencing Uniform Awarding Ceremony and yearly party. We just hope our detailed record will benefit all Lu La La to memorize this precious experience.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

As the saying goes, “time will remember everything”. The longer we get along with Lu La La, the more we know about them. We learnt it is very important to choose the right way in our lives. Such as Ms. Yang Wei-Lin devoted herself to the Lu La La’s service. To help the others as soon as possible becomes her life credo. Every one of us admires her so much and hopes this kind of benefits could be shared by our friends, our family and by the world.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

In order to present detailed information, we did interview, took pictures, kinescope, record and referred to the song book “Rong-Hsuin”. But considering the rights for intelligence property, we select everything with care. Mr. Lu. Tze-ho produced a CD “Dancing Notes”, and Ms. Huang Su-ya played the music, which make our webpage own both excellent pictures and essays while echoing beautiful music. To show their respect and support the best education for the students, Lu La La try to provide more accurate and much more abundant webpage by all means.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Before I joined this research, I once thought Lu La La as a service group, but I now realized Lu La La staff not only performed excellent in self-support activities but also work the best after they enter the society. The songs of Lu La La are so popular among the China Youth Corps and are now with all the life of many Lu La La. We are proud of Lu La La always, but we are feeling Lu La La’s activity is turning from outdoor camping to spiritual improvement. It seems that the stage of Lu La La is not so legendary as it was before. And we hope Lu La La can find their new direction and carry on their instructive subjects. Thus, our research will be more meaniful. On the other hand, we deeply feel the sincerity from Lu La La. We help each other, we care for each other and we feel the love of each other. Lu La La is efficient and this association deserves our research.
