1. Description of Our Community
The Guan-Shan Village , Nang-Hua Country on Tainan County is named after the aboriginal “WestAli-Guan” and then it is officially called “ Guan-Shan Village ”. It initially belonged to the domain of Fong-Shang County with the altitude from 250m to 900m, typically a hillside slope area with mountains and streams surrounded. There are 3 precious treasures including beautiful mountains, streams and excellent ecology conservation. Within the ancient Taiwan County Documentary Articles, it said this is a place of clouds and mountainous areas. From the documentary context, we can readily recognize its originality and crudeness with rare human activity then. Thanks to this situation, it abounds in animals, plants and insects. People live by bamboo and mango as their daily colorful traits in culture.
2. Summary of Our Project
In West Ali-Guan Village, it abounds in animals and insects. We marvel that there are large amounts and kinds of vespas in the Guan-Shan Village. Some people live here who take advantage of vespas and hives, then gain their main earning. Vespa basalis is the angriest vespas, easy to be found in the mountains of Guan-Shan. Because climbers are afraid of vespa basalis, we crave to investigate vespa basalis by cooperating with adepts at vespa basalis living Guan-Shan Village. How do they build the perfectly six angle hive? How is vespa basalis’ development in every age? How do we discriminate it’s sex and body? How do we use vespas and hives? How is the PH of vespa basalis’ venom? These issues interest us strongly. We hope you scan the internet which described vespa basalis’ lifestyle and relationship between community industry and vespa basalis in order to know “assassin” in the village more.

In our school, there are 17 (including 6 PC in each class) computers, plus with servers and administrative PC, totally 28 PC. We create a school intranet to link to the Internet Center of Tainan County by ADSL. This connection will be convenient for students for their own web page preparation after school together with the information gathering.
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
(1). Technical Problems We Had To Overcome This is our first to take this Vespa Basalis Theme as our research project with the seemingly unprecedented pride for this relevant preparation we experienced. Because it connects with community’s industry, is closely that people who live here get their own main earning. We try to combine this project theme with community’s industry, however find some technical problem which we hardly solve. These problems are how to catch vespa basalis or its hive, how we can get vespa basalis’s venom. Thank for community’ support, we solve some problems. (2). The Application of Technology & Information Media After experiencing with whatever and whoever we have encountered, by using technology novelty – digital record stick, digital cameras, DV and PC -, we note down whatever we think it to be worthy deep in our memory. We come to find the fact that technology always originates from the humane true demand in nature. But, sometimes, the endeavoring people will fail because of deficient experience with the substantial understanding that it actually exists in the gap between imagination and reality. Oftentimes, we cannot use the digital devices very proficiently and thus we are forced to find a good balance point for ourselves. What a bitter ordeal it is! We still keep our efforts to confront with any possible challenge, harsh yet worthy!
(3). Time Table Time is never waiting for man and we are limited to a certain period of time with all the preparation well completed most efficiently. We sincerely hope to show the viewers with detailed information about our hometown and it is really a huge challenge for us. Many thanks to the kind help from our teachers and parents, we finally complete this task with all possible favors from people surrounding us.
(4). Nobody Makes An Honorable Task Our school is quite a small school located deep in the mountainous area with the substantial difficulty to reach any resources and information. Thus, when we hear about the participation of Global Website Fair, we are all excited about this news and it is the very honor for our school, Rei-Fong Elementary School, totally 34 students. However, it is still a challenge for us to overcome and each our participants endeavor so much for this competition. I earnestly hope to link our community to the global trend seamlessly through this fabulous opportunity.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
.Jin-Lien said: “I hope we can show our local specialties to people in the world by CyberFair.” .Jhe-Sin said: “Because of personal interaction, we realize the living way of Vespa basalis. I truly like to live here.” .Ying-Wun said: “I gain much more knowledge about the environment and creatures surrounding us when investigated Vespa basalis.”
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
From this theme research project, we share our life experience with each other and we also experience the true beauty with much more knowledge about the culture surrounding us, perceiving the painstaking stamina of our ancestors. We are searching for their humane movement. This is the only one elementary school within this region and there are numerous interactive involvements among people. We will create a database of web pages with all information gathered to promote our local features and culture well known to the whole world.
