Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Huatan is located on the South of Changhua, and it near Fen-Yuan village and the and Pakua Mountain. WenDe Palace is a famous temple, which is managed by three villages, they are Bai Sha village , WenDe village , and Zhang Sha villages. Arround the WenDe Palace, there are many famous palce where became famous recently are all in its adjacent place, such as Pakua Mountain, Taiwan Folk Village, and sunflower garden.

2. Summary of Our Project

WenDe Palace is a famous temple in Huatan Village, the greatest characteristic is to have lantern activity every year, and it exists for more than 100 years. Besides, in the WenDe Palace, there is a Tu-De-Gong who is the only one wears officer's robe and hat bacause of his magic power and bless the people.

Number of workstations with Internet access in the 2-3 classroom Connection speed used in the classroom: dedicated connection Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet: 4-6 Presently our school adopted ADSL 1.5M on net and there were three net sections: the computer classroom in our school, 3 sets of classroom computers. First, we keyed in our assignments with the classroom computers or at home, and then took it to computer classroom for word processing. In addition, we also used ADSL lines at school.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.The pressure of academic courses For me, to participate in the web page making contest is a very contradictive work. All of us are at the third grade, there are many tests to take and books to read and memorize. But on the other side, what we really need is not just to study, on the contrary, to gain anything abroad through activities, and let it make us to learning by doing. We met lots of difficulties, no matter the time is not enough or the skills for making web page. Thanks to the help of teachers, so that the burden become lighter and the problems can be solved smoothly. We really appreciate it.

2. Difficulties of interviewing with the committee numbers of Tianhou Temple There are many persons we want to say thanks during the web pages making. Especially, we would like to thank our principle, Lin-Jin-Cheng, helps us to contact Mr. Huang to accept the interview. We all appreciate his great help, and that make the interview accomplish smoothly. Besides, thanks every partners and advisors’ cooperation and instruction. The most important is that under the blessing of the Tu-De-Gong, we did it.

3. Learn and grow up (1)Integrate the words After we take an interview, it takes us lots of time to put everyting in order from the tape, and turn the narrte into writing. (2)Skill of Web Page making We considerate the sense of sight and the convenience of operation. Although it's difficult for us, we work and think every possible solution to overcome the problems. (3)It takes lots of time for us to take pictures.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The topic is about the particular culture in our hometown. And we learn many custom and history from the aged. We are proud of our culture and show our respect to them. The Web Page making make us understand that we can learn from everywhere, from everyone. Besides, we learn many skills about making pages.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

(1)relevant books, papers, and magazine (2)P.C. and notebook: In most time we used PC, but for the reason that there was only one computer in each class, the teacher also carried his notebook. (3)Broad band network: Thanks to the educational network, we can search for our information quickly, mailing in the net, and etc. (4)Scanner (5)Recorder:It was hard to take note when interviewing, and then we must use the recorder. (6)Cameras:In most place, we used digital camera. But we have only one and for convenience, we must take a traditional camera. (7)phone and cell phone make us contact conveniently

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We interview the commitee of the Wen-De Temple, Mr. Huang to understand the history and culture. And teacher Zhang-Shi-Jie helps us to overcome the problems of technology.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The academic courses and the Web Pages making, we have to keep balance between them. We all know that the experience is more importnat than the textbooks.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

There are too many things to do in the Web Pages making. We make many group, and each group take different charge. We help each other.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

This super-mission, we spend several month to finish. During the time, we have argue, unconfidence. However, we try our best to overcome and we did it. In addition, we learn that it's valuable to find the first hand information. Sometimes, we get information without proof; and that make us know how to avoid this.
