Our local community has three significances: First is looked from the cultural stratification plane that, refers to in the traditional folk custom 'art group', some many forms and the significance difference, all is with the place belief and the life union, we will have specially to introduce are frequently are mistaken are 'the eight generals', will be in vogue to the northern Taiwan 'the official the head', will spread from the Xinzhuang Temple Another meaning of the local community is means to the traditional folk custom 'art group', it is always thought to be connected with faction and the temple organization, so the parents and teachers are constant to forbid them to learn. Moreover is the subject which is concerned from us - 'the official the head', actually this also is a subject which the young people is concerned. Nearly the schoolmates all know about it , but is not certainly familiar, therefore the official this young people community also will be is worth us caring about and discussing race group! But around us the young people also helped us to understand them to 쳌gthe official the head쳌h view. The third local community Is the young people, because 'The Official Head ', It쳌fs form of proforance extremely noticeable, the young people are very happy to learn, but most parents & teachers often prohibit them.

2. Summary of Our Project

We try to research the difference of 'The Official Head ' and 'The Eight Gerenl' these two kinds of troupes ,including of their roles in the temple fair. The second, we want to introduce the 쳌gNe-Jah troupe쳌h, to study about why they are attached importance to local tradtional culture? And why Mr. Gao want to help teenager have a good recreation? And to clean the misunderstanding of 'The Official Head '? Mr. Gao , the leader of 쳌gNe-Jah troupe쳌h , is a 28 years old young man, why he try to integrate modern music, dance and drama into 'The Official Head ', to bulid a new fashion proforance in our daily life? 4. Problems We Had To Overcome

At first, there are some obstacles such as the lacking of computer skills, knowledge of God Commanders, and the cooperation of unfamiliar people. Fortunately, we meet Chief Kao of Nuo-Zha drama workshop, and found the troupe participating in the temple festival in a very short time. The author, Lu J.M. gave us many suggestions and supports in this project, and provided preserved face painting and photos, to free us from intelligence property right issue; In the meanwhile, we'd appreciate the instructors and members for preparing video and camera equipments. Secondly, the interview is another challenge. Since it is the first experience, everyone couldn쳌ft help getting nervous and embarrassed. Therefore, it takes a long time to prepare the interview. In the beginning, we did not know how to interview, however we got help from instructors to feel more confident to do the job, and to express deeply about the report. 쳌@ The web design is a big assignment. It is because there is only one person in the group that can design the web page. However, the rest of us cannot design the web page assist our member to borrow a few of web design books, and consulted our teachers, especially Mr. Chen at the Department of Automobile, who got rewards of web designs. From this experience, we learned a lot of skills about web design, in addition, he gave us a lot of new inspirations! The most difficulty is to edit the web pages, since all of us are not familiar with this. Su Yue and Rui-Yi firstly begin to try, and keep on asking teachers, whom include Mr. Chen and Mr. Hsu. Later, Bo-Yu also entered this task, and finally finished the most complicate web page. It is such a difficult job! In such a short time, we can present such a work, it is really a pleasing result. During this procedure, we adopted all the equipments, graphic software, hardware available at the department society. We were racing with time. We do feel we had broken through our limits to get this result.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We learned that even nobody would do great work. Besides, we learned from the two interviewees how they insisted on not only recording but lightning the culture extension. We are pleasured to enroll in their cultural work. Most of all, we got used to being cooperative with others.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We all learned the common knowledge of computer and wrote the related essays. Our teacher kept on encouraging us to do a project. However only after doing this project did we just understand our weakness and learn the steps of doing a project. This helps us be an 쳌gActive쳌h learner in the future. The other gains from this project are: ‚P. Well-use 쳌gNetwork쳌h, browse more websites and carefully search for the information we need and learn how to design a website. ‚Q. Cultivate the attitude of active 쳌gstudy쳌h, learned how to solve problems and continue to do research and get answers. ‚S. Learn how to 쳌hcooperation쳌h, and find doing a project is more detailed, practical and requires more responsibility than common group reports. ‚T. Learn how to 쳌gwork쳌h with different persons with different characters, and learned how to trust and, support each other. To us, this is the greatest harvest.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

p3-733 computers, the other equipments:DV(pur teacher borrowed from her friend),V8( belong to one number's uncle),telephone and mobile phone,Portable disk( our teacher Ms.Wang's especial for the research), Recorder( belong to one number), Scanner( belong to school), Digital camera(our teacher especialiy bought for the research ), tradtional photograph equipments( belong to one number), Computer software manuals and web design books. Software:Photo impact,Photo editor, Cute ftp, Dreamweaver, ACDSee 3.0; Operation system:Windows 98, 2000, NT,ME,XP. All of us use Yahoo Massenger to organize internet meeting, and learned how to scan the pictures and newspapers, and learned how to use the dquipmentsto do our work.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Through friends we had the chance to interview the Chief of Nuo-Zha Drama Workshop, Kao Zhi-Hung on Jan. 11, 2003. Chief shares a lot of his experiences without any reservation. Besides, he also gave us some suggestions about the project. Chief allowed us to participate in the inspecting tour on Jan.11, and agreed us to record it. It gave us the in-person experience. He also lent us many referehce materials, such as the VCD of 쳌gthe performance at the world football contest in Korea: Korea Art Festival쳌h, related reports of Nuo-Zha Drama Workshop, studies on the adolescents as God Commanders, and allowed us to download the information and photos from their website, and took pictures of all the costumes and instruments쳌c and etc. All these enriched the content of our project, and solved a lot of problems. (Left figure is Mr. Kao Zhi-Hung). After reading 쳌sGod Commanders쳌t and 쳌sGenerals쳌t, we realized Mr. Lu J.M. had such an interest and put such effort on researching God Commanders. Due to the issue of copy right, we tried to contact the Dan-San publisher, and they gave us a generous favor and Mr. Lu's phone number. Thus, we contacted Mr. Lu as soon as we got his phone number. Mr. Lu would like to share with us the pictures not published, and allowed us to interview him on Jan. 28, asked him more details about God Commanders and Eight Generals. He even gave us a lot of references, such as the Art Festival of Northern Religion, the introduction of the Ti-Sang King Temple쳌c and so on (Right figure shows Mr. Lu, J.M.) Besides, the father of Qiao-Yin also kindly provided us with many his own collections, music and books related to folk religions.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We had the chance to learn together, to work with different persons, to accept each other, and to get along with each other. It even broke the limitation of our study on the textbooks. We learned deeply in the life, and got the chance to introduce God Commanders and the culture of battle array to all the students, teachers and parents in Taiwan. A culture that really belongs to Taiwanese life is not longer put aside, or considered low-level culture, and people will grow to know them. Through this research, we turned rejection into approaching and appreciating the customs of local religions in Taiwan. By interviewing 쳌gNuo-Zha Drama Workshop쳌h, we realized that the culture could be remodeled, passed down and close to our life. We came to know Chief Kao, a normal person but full of great ambition. He has the determination of contributing his life to the culture inheritance, and sets the target at introducing Taiwanese folk culture to the whole world. We understood that, it is possible to contribute ourselves to culture promotion, which is no longer an unreachable dream. Therefore, among our members, one wished to marry a God Commanders, and wanted her children to learn this performance, and hoped himself to become a little expert in God Commanders; the others even had a dream, wished to find out the root of God Commanders in Mainland China What an interesting idea!

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

While searching for the information, we knew 쳌gNuo-Zha Drama Workshop쳌h, so we got in touch with its chief. After indicating our intention, we got the great support from the chief. Besides, the related information was not enough, so we asked a favor from Mr. Lu (the author of Generals, The History of Generals, God Commanders쳌cand etc.). He offered us the photos, information and related books. Thanks to the close cooperation, we could complete our project smoothly. We would like to acknowledge all the people provide us with useful information and help us to complete this contest. Thanks to all these peoples, we can present such a perfect report. We sincerely thank the follow people give us invaluable help: 1. Chief Kao provided us with the information of the troupe, presentation, and VCD. 2. The help from DanShan publisher and bridge the connection with Mr. Lu J.M. 3. Mr. Lu provided us with his private collections(Face-marks, Hsian-Kuang cakes, photos) accepted our interview, and gave us the advice for the report edition. 4. Each member쳌fs parents with provided us the information, lent us the equipments, and drove us to the interview and followed the inspecting tour, in addition to toleranting our busy and hard-work life. 5. Teacher쳌fs helps: the encouragements from Chen Yung-Chang, Hsu Yung-Kun, which helps us with web pages.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

With the one-day inspecting tour, our members realized many new things. For example, when Chung-Han saw the inspecting tour, he recalled the sweet time of getting Hsian-Kuang cakes from God Commanders when he was a child. Besides, it is hard to image how difficult it is to wear such a heavy hat and clothes for the whole day, We admire the efforts their chief put on them. The members give each other direct corrections when they find out some incorrect performance. After listening to his description and watching their performance, we realized that the culture of battle array is not only fighting each other or making trouble. Their serious attitude to word performance and hard work are very difficult to imagine. Especially, his passion has him which is full of local, folk culture characteristic, try to connect the battle array of God Commanders with life, and even lead the group onto the international stage. He strives to get more funds, and to create many different ways of performance. The way of connecting God Commanders with our life is very surprising. We just found out, the battle array and inspecting tour of folk religion we used to be afraid of or reject to is a religious action. It requires professional knowledge to bring up its beauty. Furthermore, the different types of battle array, music, face-paintings and instruments all attracted us to do further research. 쳌gChief Kao쳌h of Nuo-Zha Drama Workshop, in order to pursuit his own interest, he has been watching and learning all the activities in temple fairs since he was a child. In the persistence of grouping his own troupe, he spent his savings, time and efforts on it. All is only for his interest, for the inheritance of the folk art. This kind of persistence is worth praising and learning. Mr. Lu would rather choose the job at which he could report God Commanders for his interest. Meanwhile, we can see from his collections he already spent many years on writing and researching the art of battle array. We saw their efforts, and we also realized that culture work is really worthy to put efforts on.
