1. Description of Our Community
The Guan-Shan Village, Nang-Hua Country on Tainan County is named after the aboriginal “West Ali-Guan” and then it is officially called “Guan-Shan Village”. It initially belonged to the domain of Fong-Shang County with the altitude from 250m to 900m, typically a hillside slope area with mountains and streams surrounded. There are 3 precious treasures including beautiful mountains, streams and excellent ecology conservation. Within the ancient Taiwan County Documentary Articles, it said this is a place of clouds and mountainous areas. From the documentary context, we can readily recognize its originality and crudeness with rare human activity then. Thanks to this situation, it abounds in animals, plants and insects. People live by bamboo and mango as their daily colorful traits in culture.
2. Summary of Our Project
Have you ever seen the movie of “Crouching Tiger and Hiding Dragon” with the beautiful bamboo fields? Have you ever found those small lovely bamboo shoots hidden on the ground? Have you ever hold the DIY bamboo tea cup with the flower nectar and plum tea in hands to enjoy the irresistible fragrance and flavor? Along the county route 179 and the Guan-Shan community within the Ho-Jieu stream valley, we frequently meet with the bamboo together with its unique pleasant odor in the air and the bamboo will be the very living means of economic activities. This time, we hope to take this opportunity of the participation of Global Website Fair to create a new database of web pages to allow people knowing much more about this village and its bamboo culture. Let’s insight the true colors of “Guan-Shan Bamboo Trail”!

In our school, there are 17 (including 6 PC in each class) computers, plus with servers and administrative PC, totally 28 PC. We create a school intranet to link to the Internet Center of Tainan County by ADSL. This connection will be convenient for students for their own web page preparation after school together with the information gathering.
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
(1).The Difficult Beginning Whatever You Do This is our first to take this Bamboo Theme as our research project with the seemingly unprecedented pride for this relevant preparation we experienced.After well defining the spindles for our research arrangement with numerous discussion meetings, we are quite delightful that we can carry out our first step for our growth experience. (2).Time Table Time is never waiting for man and we are limited to a certain period of time with all the preparation well completed most efficiently.Many thanks to the kind help from our teachers and parents, we finally complete this task with all possible favors from people surrounding us. (3).Personal Interaction During the research process, the people involvement also plays a very important role from team works, field researches and people interview with the critical significance for us to learn the communication skills with people. We hereby owe our gratitude to everyone we meet for their kindness, allowing our childish generations with the excellent opportunity to grow. (4).The Application of Technology & Information Media After experiencing with whatever and whoever we have encountered, by using technology novelty – digital record stick, digital cameras, DV and PC -, we note down whatever we think it to be worthy deep in our memory. We come to find the fact that technology always originates from the humane true demand in nature. But, sometimes, the endeavoring people will fail because of deficient experience with the substantial understanding that it actually exists in the gap between imagination and reality.What a bitter ordeal it is!Harsh yet worthy!

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
(1).Boost the hometown care through community recognition This is the only one elementary school within this region and there are numerous interactive involvements among people. We will create a database of web pages with all information gathered to promote our local features and culture well known to the whole world. (2).Field Research for Natural Resource to Create Educational Materials We start with the field research activities to visit the community elders with interview information gathered and we carefully note down the community features and culture integrated into our community educational materials. (3).Materialize the environmental education contexts to raise the ecology explanatory pioneers We lead the children to personally sense with the environmental education to raise the ecology protection pioneers as the best explanatory staffs for sightseeing visitors, allowing more visitors with much more knowledge about our community. (4).Hometown Love yet Global Vision Thanks to the currently well developed information technology, we will compile the written information to share with the seamless link to the whole world. Thus, we can reach the wonderfully successful step into the world. (5).Integrate the Activity Range to Make the Educational Materials with our own Uniqueness Through the manifold phased theme design for educational materials, we will lead the children intothe outdoor survival skills with the capability to cook food of no available utensils.We expect that this capability of children will meet the demand from their local environment and also create the unique features of our school. (6).Create Unique School Features & Versatile Art and Human Atmosphere We incessantly develop our school ideology of “Green School” with the versatile aspects to reveal our local culture and features –bamboo. In addition to its edibility, in the view of aesthetics, we will raise the knowledge and appreciation capability of children. Through the creative handicrafts of bamboo, such as bamboo can adorned hallway, there are still some small and beautiful flowerpots.
