Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

FuShin Elementary School is just about north of Hualien City, next to 'Newtown Valley', beautiful Mt. MeiLuen is on the south, eminent Severn foot river mountain is on the west, beautiful MeiLuen stream flows between it and immense Pacific is on the east. Our kids are very natural and footloose, they are fit, pure and innocent, they love football without any doubt, we believe our football hopes is on them.

2. Summary of Our Project

Our football players are very fit, can run like antelopes, their brilliant performance have won themselves lots of awards, it's our honor and also is an important part of FuHsin people's lives. We hope that our webpages can deliver football information and knowledge to people who don't understand football, or who want to get to know football more. Also share our stories of our team players, coach and senior. Our purpose of this website is to make Taiwanese to know football better, then promote football to every corner in Taiwan. We decided to use 'The hope of soccer in Taiwan is budding in Hualien ' to be our project subject, hoping that our football can be competitive with the whole World.

NT Workstation runs on firewall, they both are our mail servers, one of the server has setup the proxy, we also have a FTP server, which runs on DNS and WWW.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

The most difficult issue was collecting information, because we didn't understand the question, how to meet the requirements, how to integrate the data we found, were the challenges for us. Now we have known the football better than before, even though football is not popular in Taiwan, the area we live is quite far away from capital, searching information was extremely difficult, but we have overcome those problems. These 3 months we have had been worried how we could display our ideas on the webpages, how to draw the structures, without our teachers' support we couldn't make it. We cannot wait to show you those pages we made.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Yah! Viva! I thought it wouldn't be so difficult to create a sports website, but there are interviews, data integration, typing and pictures uploading, we were not good in composition, how to deliver our thoughts and messages are not so easy, but after doing this website, our skills have improved a lot, we used to type by one finger, now we type like a professional. We can be assistants to our computer teacher and help classmages to solve their computer queries. Furthurmore, our communication skills have improved as well, we know how to ask right questions to right person, during our research, we met lots of nice people, they provided lots of information for us to complete this website. I believe we will remember everything during this website production and every person involved in this project.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We are the first team to enter project researching contest of WWW Exhibition from FuHsin Elementary School, we had lots of expectation from everyone, also the school has been very supportive all the times. We have been promoting WWW Exhibition activities, so there's another team launched after us. When we talked to different people, we delivered the Exhibition's message to them, and explain the purpose of this contest, in order to understand the place we live, then to love it more and look after it. After our explanation, lots of people agree our effort and provided relevant information to us. We also use Emails to people we know, to tell me what we are doing at the moment and welcome them to join us.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

After our research, our website has got lots of feedback from local community, because we mentioned some people who devoted themselved to football, like Coach Huang, the purpose of establishing FuHsin Football team is to provide a warm place for the players, who used to be trouble makers, also some technology companies' support to MeiLuen Junior High Football team, because of them, now we have more people care about the football development.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The most touching moment was the interview with Mr. Chen, who is the secretacy of Hualien Football Committee. We heard about his hard working in managing football teams, he invested much time and money in getting good equipment for students, to prove football players are not just can play football, they also can be helpful to the society. We were all touched by his talking.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

When we interviewed with our graduatees, they are now studying in MeiLuen Junior High and Hualien Senior High, they told us that when they played football in FuHsin Elementary School, the performance was the best and no other schools could beat them, but after they graduated from FuHsin, they don't have much time in practicing football, so their football skill went backward. If our government could have a department which concentrate training these talented players, we believe Taiwan will soon be famous in football world.
