4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1. We have many tests almost everyday. To keep good grades and do the research, we only sleep 2 or 3 hours. It is very hard for teens. 2. Collecting and compiling data are difficult. It is a tough task for us to read through many data and choose the impersonal views. 3. Technical: FrontPage can’t support Word.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

We learn the team work, understand the community and do the research.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

1. CPC wants to hold a referendum about moving the oil refinery from our community. We can teach students about voting and democracy. 2. CPC had proposed the methods of eliminating pollution. Students learn the pollution disposal in Chemistry and examine the proposal of CPC.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

Hardware: Computers, digital cameras, recording pens, telephone. Software: dreamwaver MX、Flash MX、Word2000、PhotoImpact7、FrontPage2000、WS-FTP、E-Mail We communicated with hardware and made the web site with the software. And the software donated by schools. All of the tools helped us to finish our project.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

1. We are the children of CPC employees, so it is easy to visit the directors or the chiefs of the CPC. We have a talk with a master of the CPC refinery and get precious document. 2. Many school teachers tell us the history and anecdotes of CPC. 3. The old resident tell us what they like, hate, feel about CPC.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

1. We introduced the efforts of CPC to the residents who think CPC is the biggest pollution source. CPC has done a lot on eliminating pollution. We hope the residents can know more about CPC and re-evaluate the agenda of removing CPC refinery. We hope the residents can choose the best answer for themselves and for Taiwan.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

People are very friendly and eager to tell us what they know and willing to help on every aspect because they think the community is their root.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Removing the oil refinery is a big event. It concerns not only people but also the economy of the country. What is best for people and the economy to reach the both wins situation is very controversial. We have proposed a lot of view points in our project.
