Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

There are about six hundred people in JenqShing community, including four Paiwan tribes and one Bekai tribe. The four Paiwan tribes are Kalatalan?Vilaulau?Toritori and Baumuri. Ancient tribe located at the upriver of Tamali ghyll, and it moved to nowadays place during 1950s'.

2. Summary of Our Project

We come from the ancient Paiwan tribe located at the upriver of Tamali ghyll. Pass through several generations, we come to JenqShing community now. We will ascend and find the woodland where our ancestor lived, and become the progeny of sun.

We have one dedicated ADSL lines (384K)serving our school. We have one workstation and 19PCs. We have one digital recorder and one digital camera and a scanner.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

1.Although there are twelve menbers in our team,no one can speak Paiwanese.Therefore we have to get help from teachers and paterfamilias. 2.Including teachers and students, we lack the experience of making web page. 3.Another problem is the lack of device.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

One grammer told us "Don't be vainglorious even you are a intelligentzia, you should do everything with humility." This word touches our soul deeply.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

We hope all people in the world can know the culture of Paiwan tribe in Taiwan by this opportunity.

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We used digital recorder and digital camera. Those tools helped us to memorize the beautiful voice and photos.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Our students act as spokespersons for our project in person. They care about their traditional cultures and love those beautiful legends.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The beauty of our culture is really touched our heart. And, we have responsibility to keep it and last it, forever.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

The sheiks of tribes were glad to accept our visitation and members of community helped us to interpret and offer data useful

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We feel deeply that keeping a tribal culture is hard but important.
