The Catholic Church accompanied the Taiwanese people, who are humble and practical, enriching them in their historical background.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Our Team Leader Su Mei-Jun is our spokesperson. She is proactive, very organized and responsible. As we stay at school most of the time, e-mail has become our main communication tool.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

I think our teamwork is the best one in Taiwan. I also think the Cyberfair activity is meaningful to us who join this project.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Fun traveling is very different from doing research. While conducting a research, you view people and things at a very different angle. You need to go to the bottom of things/people. You tend to be very discreet and thoughtful about even just a single word/a picture in order to get to the bottom. This experience has become a good starter for us to meet future challenges. We believe we will get a good grip of the research direction if similar projects come to us again. We have come across with many devoted people during the research work. ROYALIR, the secretary to Cardinal Bishop, provided us information about which countries Cardinal Bishop SHAN, KUO-HSI has visited and the visiting backgrounds. Lin Cheng-Ping, Supervisor of Ming-Cheng High School: He contacted BishopSHAN, KUO-HSI, the Bishop's secretary and provided us transportation (a car). Lin Pei-Hwa and Liao Jing-Jei, instructors of Ming-Cheng High School: They provided us books and related information. Tang Jia-Liang, Supervisor of Ming-Cheng High School: He provided us related information.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

we used resources such as newspapers, books, textbooks, magazines, columns related to religions, libraries, web, interviews and nuns' narrations. 99% of the photos were shot by us when we interviewed our guests. digital cameras, monocle cameras and general cameras were used. TMA scanner and ordinary one.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

1.Members of the Catholic churches are primarily monks, nuns and priests that come from foreign countries. While communicating, we largely resorted to body languages, taking time to understand each other. 2.We are the first-timers engaged in this research and none are Catholics. We therefore had to spend more time on reading and preparation work. 3.As we were never trained before to do research work, we often times would encounter many difficulties while searching for information, conducting interviews and making conclusions. Gladly, we had found pleasure in meeting challenges with our perseverance. 4.For awhile, the school's web was going through maintenance which caused failures to get access to some websites and pictures. Our progress was therefore belated. Luckily, our members of PC Team and Instructor Wu Chuen-Lan took the work home to catch up with the scheduled progress. 5.Normally, we have to stay at school for studying until 20:00pm on weekdays. We still have classes to attend on weekend. Time for the research work was actually insufficient.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

The research project on Father SHAN, KUO-HSI has helped us learn the importance of team spirits and the strengths it could bring. Without each individual's diligence and devotion, we would not have been able to finish it. By direct contacts with Father SHAN, KUO-HSI, we get to learn the holiness of Catholicism and the spirit of serving societies. We believe that our efforts delivered and hardships taken are the key to the completion of the research project . Such an experience will help us take the future challenges in a serious and earnest manner.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

It does have brought positive elements to us. On the dimensions of school curricula: The books related to Catholicism are of great help to us. On the dimensions of community interactions: Father SHAN, KUO-HSI as the focus of the research, we have got a better picture and understanding of the world's recognized Cardinal Bishop SHAN, KUO-HSI. Our knowledge and appreciation of religions are enhanced as well.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

Our discoveries and lessons learned: The cohesion of team spirits, the pleasure of devotion, and more curiosity and love for our living society are generated.
