4. Problems We Had To Overcome

First problem is that the data are not enough. All research fellows of Ketagalan have to overcome it. Because Ketagalan is a part of Ping Pu Tribe, so it have a deeply enculturation of Han. The original data are almost lost. But we were lucky to establish contact with Mrs. Chan who is a research fellow of Academia Sinica. She provided us many data that help us a lot.

Second, because all of the team members are students, we have to take care of our schoolwork, so time distributing is an essential for us.When we looking for the members for the contact, we hope more people can share works. During making the web page, we found more people would make more troubles. When we decide things there had more suggestions. When someone didn’t hold the meeting, we would tell her the point and what she should do.

It’s difficult to take content with each other, but we still did all we can to notify everyone things. For example, by paper, e-mail, bbs, phone, and so on.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

To love this land is to understand the past—Ketagalan.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

The skill of making web sites would be better. We were more familiar with the skill like HTML, Java_Script, Java Applet, FrontPage and Dream weaver.

We discussed and determined something together. It made us more union. We got the information from Internet. It could make us to get much information and chose what we really wanted. It saved much time. But don't depend on the Internet too much.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We use telephones, tape recorders, computer software, libraries, books, newspapers, and email, museums and oral interviews. There are all simple tools. For example, the tape recorder is our classmate's and everyone all has email. Email is the most useful tool. It can contact everyone quickly and change the message.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

Because our teammate knows that there a person who works about aborigines. He introduces us to see Mrs. Chan, an aborigine’s researcher. We contact through the telephone and email. We also meet her and investigate her. She gives us many things about Ketagalan. We are very happy to get the things about Ketagala.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

In the beginning, we thought the information about Ketagalan is very plentiful. But when we began to find the information about Ketagalan, we found that it was very difficult for us to collect the information about Ketagalan. We want to find the true colors about Ketagalan. We hope we can find the real situation not just make the sad situation.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

We were very lucky. Many people helped us. First, Mr.Chang, who works about aborigine. He told us many things about aborigines. And Mr. Elijah Morgan also told us some Ketagalan information. The most person who helped us a lot is Mrs. Chan. She told us many things about Ketagalan. She also directs us to analyze much information. And the National Palace museum allowed us to use their picture. If there were not their helps, we couldn't do anything. Thanks to everyone who has ever helped us.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We were very surprised that there was little information about Ketagalan. But it made us complete our web site firmly to introduce the tribe.
