4. Problems We Had To Overcome

At beginning, the classmates had very high interests. However, when dealing with the investigation and exploration, we usually met rocks, weeds, and wilds and abandoned graves. Though it was not like the original pioneers, it always had some hurts. So the interests were getting weak. Some classmates were even out of the group. Also, the proofs were not easy to obtain and the contents were not easy to understand. Thus, everyone met setback and would like to give up. Thanks for the encouragement from Teacher Huang and the knowledge teaching from Teacher Chen.

The school could only provide few supports. Only thing we could use was the digital camera and scanners. And the only time we might use was the holidays. By using the limited time for such big program, the spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak. Therefore, please do not hesitate to inform us.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

To reshow the historical traces for Jin-Men in the last six hundreds years

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

This designated topic, in fact, is not just an exploration of reconstructing a path, but also understand the background and reasons that how the Gu-Guan-Dao formed. Further back to the old age, it can encourage classmates?patriotic sentiment by carefully tasting the endeavor that the ancestors?development and reclamation, the merits and achievement that the ancestors resisted bandits. Reminding the ancestors?significant contribution from the existed steles is as the model for the new generation. From the sacrifice that the ancestors built and paved, we will understand the true essence of sacrifice. During the research course, the classmates realized the significance of holding together and helping each other. ? This designated topic can be the important reference material for the school on the homeland curriculum in order to supplement the insufficient teaching materials on “Knowing Taiwan? Thus, the students in Jin-Men would know more about their homeland. It can be the live teaching material of geography. It is also the witness of the homeland history.? During the exploration, the classmates witnessed the insufficiency of maintaining the historical interests. Under the time being, human damaged, and war destroy, the ancient monuments is getting depredation. Though we have the photos and words as the history witness, but it is really sorrowful when we witness the damage. Then, the classmates understand the important of conserving the historic monuments.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

During this investigation, the classmates used digital camera, scanner, tape recorder, computer network and any software, and the collection from books, newspapers, and magazines from Teacher Chen, so we had smooth investigation activity. Of course, the important, was the inspection, interview and recording. There were based on the school availability. It was unfortunate that we did not have digital video camera to show you more about this adventure. Anyhow, we were satisfied with the limited tools to the whole program.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

This investigation was all over the towns and villages. All people that we have met were unknown. However, by zeal, we usually make the strange to familiar. Most of the interviewees, at beginning, were rejecting, but later, they encouraged us and some even took us to the destination in person, or introduced us some other people for us. They sincerely talked with us in person. When you saw they put down their works for this history recording, it was really touching our heart.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Sometimes, we passed some spots. Because of unknown, we did not have any feeling. After a real inspection, we may introduce them to other people about their stories, history, We do not just have some kindness, but also the identification about them. We believe that after the publication of the website, it must help the study for regional homeland history.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Thank to Mr. Zhang, Shui-Dong, Mr. Chen, De-Dun, Mr. Chen, Zhao-Lu, Mr. Weng, Shui-Wu, Mr. Yang, Xian-Qi, and Teacher Chen, Yi-Qi. Some took and guided us to the places in person; some provided important information; We appreciate their efforts on reserving the culture.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

The recent years, in Jin-Men, due to the loss of population, we might not able to meet anyone in the afternoon even the older generation that knew Gu-Guan-Dao. Besides, most of the statements were doubt for its reality. We always need many researches in order to ensure its correctness. While we heart any new contents, it was very happy and having achievement.During the investigation, Mr. Weng, Shui-Wu and Mr. Yang, Xian-Qi had mentioned to rebuild the old town wall in order to get the wall rocks beck to Jin-Men town. Those rocks were moved during wartime. We hope the relevant organization may adapt this.
