Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

"Kuan Du", located at the north edge of Taipei city, is famous for its religious architecher and natural environment. Therefore, many people around here, even living far away from Taipei, prefer to come here to search for spiritual support and have a pastime with their family during holidays.

2. Summary of Our Project

The idea of this project was occurred on the early November in 2000, under the suggestion of Shieh¡¦s (Á©ú³ó±Ð®v)¡Aour computer-instruction teacher, and with the coincidence the on- progressing project that we have had ¡V ¡§ the little tour guide of Kuan-Du¡¨ , we decided to make it different . First of all , we had meeting 5 times a week .During this period , we made efforts on knowing the contest rules , collecting information, deciding the outline ¡Avisiting the community seniors , and investigating the community on the spot personally . Second , after putting all our information in order, we divided the work to compile and to print data with terrific harmony. According to the web- page , we appreciated Kung-hsien( «a¦¯) designing and doing for us .

By using the optical fiber T1 , we can connected to the exterior Website , and there are three NT servers ¡V Internet server , E-mail server , and flameproof server. Also there are 2 computer instructing rooms , total 68 computers with printers and scanners in our school .

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

We have been arranging ¡§native course ¡§ both for the gifted and regular class for two years . By accumulating , collecting and knowing all the history, geography, and ecosystem of Kuan ¡VDu area , and by cooperating with the student we have in school to do the Web-page , Step by step we overcome a lot of problems , no matter on the content issue or technical issue .

During this period , students who encouraged one another and also gained the friendship and affection among them , and those are what we treasured most

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

A: As we mention beforehand , we have been arranging ¡§native course ¡§ in teaching course for gifted students for two years . And before the semester began , we planned the ¡§little tour guide of Kuan - Du ¡§program as the sixth grade student to increase their productive knowledge and to train their plan ability . By doing the Web ¡V page, which inspired them to explore the Internet World . For the long term influences which are on three aspects : one is on knowledge aspect¡V to help student to understand their hometown , one is on affection aspect - to help student how to communicate with the other people , to love and to be loved , the other is on know ¡V how ¡V to advance the problem solving ability and to do the Web-page ability .

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

A: Because the forwards topic research experiences and visiting , we collected a lot of information including : library books , magazines, and network information. According technology usage : including : record player, camera , computer and scanner to process information.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

As you know , Kuan ¡V Du area is the common growth environment for most of the students of our school. Because Shiu-Thai(³\°])and Uen-juei(Ïå¿A) they lived in nearby, we can get the information by contacting Uen-juei(Ïå¿A). Also with the assist of our knowledge erudite teacher Wung(¯Î¸t¾W), we can summarized our learning achievement . By utilizing the Internet medium and guiding activities on the spot , we would like to introduce the beauty of Kuan- Du nature to people in Taiwan and also to the people of the global world .

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

Our research project is in progress to go with the native education program of our school , so our principal and directors are very concerned and supported our project. Teachers in our school conducted some class to study and to discuss the native teaching . Also students¡¦ patriarch from the local community donated funds and facilities , which is really impressed. And the most impact t matter is : Teacher Shieu - Thai(³\°]) told us : ¡¨ To respect and to take good care of the nature ¡§ , ¡§ Do not spoiled and polluted the nature ¡§

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

A : Besides with the all the members¡¦ cooperation , fully utilizing the social resource is also very important .There are so many teacher we are very appreciated, such as : Mr. Chen¡]³¯¥@´­¡^, the main member of the butterfly association , Mr. Lin¡]ªLª÷¶¯¡^ and Mr. Chuan¡]²ø¥Ãªl¡^,two members of the birds association, our school teachers: Miss Young¡]·¨²Q©ú¡^, Mr. Yo¡]´å¤ì§ø¡^,Mr. Wung¡]¯Î¸t®p¡^, Miss Chang¡]±i·çªâ¡^,and also a student¡¦s parent , Mr. Chen¡]³¯ÄQ¦t¡^. They all possessed with profound knowledge and specialty to instruct and assist our students. We feel thankful to all of them. And we learn a lot from them, too. To use what we have learned to the society. And to learn to be grateful .

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

During these two months , we collected information and covered news activities by dividing works to accumulate , to organized, and summarized our scattered information. Because of the gymnastic show is coming , some members could not come to class to process the project . Wishing the gymnastic show will not affect the progress that much .
