4. Problems We Had To Overcome

Here is a brief description of the barries such as technical obstacles that I myself and my students faced during this CyberFair Project. 1. Timing In order to discuss web sites in detail, we have to squeeze some limited hours together. Even several weekends were counted. 2, Obtaining the related information We finally overcame by interviewing related professionals and translating their words or lines into English so that people around the world could easily browse internet.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Internet shortens the distance of obtaining information. However, it is true that cold and impassive were among human being.

Here is the best summarization that our participation in CyberFair has meant to. The best way to introduce our own community environment is to surf in CyberFair. It has meant to our students a lot. They not only become more world-wide thoughts, but also realize that loving our own environment is important.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Our CyberFair Project addresses those standards according to the nine-year compulsory education in our country. We have learned how to connect and to modify such as pictures and words on webpage. We have also learned to cooperate individuals and experienced the power of solidarity. We can better understand life changing brought by high-tech. Using the Internet for teaching and learning has been more effective than traditional methods because of fast-sppeed and clearness.

Project Elements

1) What information tools & technologies did you used to complete your CyberFair project?

We use the following information tools and technologies to complete our CyberFair Project. We use five Pentium III Intel CPU computers, Cosmopolitian brand telephones, two Kodak digital still cameras, one Microtek scanner, Panasonic tape recorder, four Frontpage softwares, one Tung-Men Library, HSIP Annual and Grand Science Park are two magazines, two newspapers are China Times and the Liberty Times, and several oral interviews. The above-mentioned tools helped us a lot because when taking pictures of all productions and pictures, we use digital still camera. We tape recording some comments from oral interviews such as Dr. Wen Hsiung Huang, Dr. Tsu Yen Chang and those Li Administrators, we use tape recorder. All the two digital still cameras were provided by Office of Studies at our school. Not any tools were donated by business or school. Computer was our most valuable tool, because its linking to the Internet. We loved computer's powerful capabilities of word processing. Tape recorder was the most helpful technology. It was so coonvenient when we were in street-interviewing. We did not have any unique or unusual ways our students used information tools and technologies.

2) In what ways did you act as "ambassadors" and spokespersons for your CyberFair project both on-line and in person.

We had different ways that our students contacted people in our community. For instance, Ms. Gail Lin, secretary at Hsinchu Science-based Industrial Park Administration (SIPA) was connected by one of her good friends, Karen, Iris Wang's dearest mother. Then, Ms. Lin made an appointment with the Director General of SIPA for us. Mr. Tobby Tseng, father of Amy, helped us made the interview successfully with Dr. Tsu Yen Chang, one of a well-known senators in our city. The member of our team asked questions to her on the subject of environmental pollutions. Mr. Tseng also asked senator Mr. Cheng Tsung Cheng, to contact those Li Administrators at SBIP neighborhood. It was a happy time interviewing them. We discussed questions like both sides conflicts since establishment of SBIP. We talked about wastewater subject through telephones with Mr.Kao Lu Ho, a correspondant of China Times at Hsinch branch.

3) What has been the impact of your project on your community?

We hope our project would make a difference. We all became SBIP "Cool" within our community. We realize the industrial development means Computer and Peripherals, Telecommunications and Optoelectronics et.c. People in our community learned new things such as those new products at SBIP through our Webpages. We do not know yet that how many people around the world learned new things about our community. We are students right now, so we did not establish any new working relationships with the people in the community.

4) How did your project involve other members of your community as helpers and volunteers?

Here is a great place to give the following helpers a great big thanks.

5) Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises (Optional)

We have to plan ahead for doing any project. Internet brings us lots of connvenient. We use to paste and copy the information that we need through internet, then gained a report. From this CyberFair Project, we have emphersized that the importnace of first hand, to learn to pay all your attention to accomplish one subject. It is not only just a CyberFair Project, it is set up better learning attitude and methods. We feel that team work has been an important element. It has brought our team more tightly. We also know the importance of coorporation. We have done it in a very smooth way, and we appreciate those who helped us. Although we are young in age, we could realize the importance of community, to take care of people, subject and what have happened arround you, We, human being, not only need the technology, modernaization but also taking care of the environment and culture.
