Project Overview

1. Description of Our Community

Because the historical buildings have historical values, cultural significance and aesthetical implication to modern life, they are the valuable treasures so to speak. Our project is to introduce the first-degree monuments of Tainan and we would like to let people understand the historical implication and values of the ancient city-Tainan.

2. Summary of Our Project

After joining this study, we've developed interests in the reports and information about these spots which we didn't pay much attention to in the past time. As a result, we understand why Tainan has the famous reputation of "the ancient city" and want to treasure the historical spots in our living place.

3. Our Computer and Internet Access

A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:more than 50%

B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:4-6

C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection

D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6

E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):

It's much more convenient efficient to use net in learning compared with traditional method. Using on-line learning can not only save time but also obtain immediate information. Besides, teaching & learning by net can make use of flash, sound, motion picture , and words. It can make learning more interesting, and inspire our learning interests.

4. Problems We Had To Overcome

At first, the problem we must overcome is how to divide our time. Being third grade students in senior high school, we have to deal with both school and cram school homework. We design a time schedule to help us well arrange our working and studying time. Later, the problem is where to collect in formation. Although we've collected mush from books, magazines, and web, some of them is incomplete or wrong. This problem greatly bothers us. Finally, by the assistance's from students of NCKU history department and Tainan Tourism Bureau, we could collect the correct information, and finish this work in time.

5. Our Project Sound Bite

Tainan City is very beautiful.

6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?

Tainan is the place where we grow up; therefore we have a deep affection for the human interests and historical relics here. Tainan is at the southwestern part of Taiwan, and the population is about 720000. It is the earliest developed area and it's also the oldest historical city. In the 17th century, the Netherlands, landing on Anping area, entered Tai River Basin from Lu-er-men and planed to treat Taiwan as it's transshipment port of international trade and this promoted an early commercial development in Tainan.
